These paintings are a history of expression of decades of students. It boosts the morale of the student body and gives the art students something to aspire to. Taking that away would hurt the culture of the school.

As a graduating person from the class of 2010 I always enjoyed looking at these, all the hard work went into it, do not paint over these

I didn't add to it during my time at east, but i still understand and respect art and i think it's completely inappropriate for blake to say what art is worthy of being displayed and what is not. That's his opinion and art is completely subjective. He's an idiot and a tyrant. Terrible principle.

As an alumni of McHenry high school, I'm extremely heartbroken that these murals full of history, creativity, and passion are going to be painted over with stark, sterile white paint. Painting one of these murals was my goal since freshman year, and when I finally reached AP art my senior year, painting a mural was one of my biggest accomplishments and made my high school experience so much more worthwhile. These murals give east campus such character. Painting over them would be covering up the passion and creativity that this school has had. Please consider letting these murals stay upon the quaint walls of east campus and let them, quite literally, leave their marks on the walls of the school as well as on the hearts of each and every student.

As a literary artist, I firmly believe in open creativity and the freedom of expression. And as an alumni of East Campus, I believe that Mr. Blake's plan would stifle creativity and violate our constitutional rights to free speech and expression. It is transforming the school I loved into a tyrannical dictatorship that only fosters anger and distrust. If Mr. Blake thinks painting over this school history will improve test scores, he is totally wrong. It will only lower the test scores by damaging student morale even further and deepening the divides between student and administration. By painting over our school's history, he proves that his administration is no better than the terrorists who destroy ancient monuments in the name of religious purity. The student body, faculty, staff, and alumni need to band together to keep Mr. Blake's totalitarian, fascist idea from becoming reality. That's why I'm signing this petition.

You can't take away the joy of the hallway. So many people love looking at the paintings. Do not take away one of the good things the school has.

The art hallway at East is one of the most unique parts of our school. Everyone who has attended East Campus remembers passing these murals everyday. Painting over them would be erasing part of East's History, and destroying something that ties all past and present MCHS students together.

There is a mural of my best friend that passed away from leukemia on that wall, it would be heartbreaking for not only me, but his other friends and family who celebrate his life.

Hello, I would just like to say that the walls should not be painted over. Those walls hold so much history that is apart of that school. People have worked so hard on the murals. The ideas for the murals are approved by the administration, so if you did not want it on the walls, then why approve it in the first place? The murals represent us as people. We express ourselves and what we believe in into those murals. They should not take away the only real creative thing they have left at that school. People who have died have murals on those walls, and they want to ruin a memory of that? They do not understand what those murals truly represent; they are not just paintings on the wall that may make it look unprofessional. It is the person's passion, love, memories, beliefsn and so much more.

Please reconsider destroying this irreplaceable art. I think at the very least students should be given a voice in this decision or look into ways it could be preserved. Every person I've spoken with feels this art makes the school unique and doesn't want to see this occur.
