I have a mural on those walls and I worked hard to get the opportunity to put a piece of who I am as a student on those walls aswell as countless others before me. Please do not cover them up they are all now and amazing part of history of our school.

These walls are not just filled with artwork but a history of my school, together they tell an important story of Mchenry East High School. I remember my first visit to my new high school as a young student many years ago, One of my most vivid memories is of the paintings that I found on the walls. Paintings of students who had passed through those hallways before me. They gave me a something to push for, something I wanted to achieve while at this school. I wanted to leave my mark on this school by one day creating a painting That would last forever, or at least that's what I thought. I remember taking so many art classes so that I could get to the point of leaving my mark on the walls of Mchenry East campus. This was something I was able to achieve. I really don't care about my painting in particular, but all the paintings together make something special. They give those hallways a unique and happy feeling. Something that I believe would be great for future students to be a part of. I feel that getting rid of these walls would be a huge loss. I know it gave me something to work towards all those years ago.

Please do not paint over these murals. This is a expression of four years of dedication and passion, a memorial to those who didn't make it, and a celebration of the things that students love. This is worth preserving.

Eric Blake is trying to abuse his power as principal of the school to cover up artwork that he personally doesn't like. His personal opinion of whether art is "horrible" or not should not determine if they will be painted over. To paint over these works of art done by students would be extremely demeaning and insulting. Every painting on those walls was reviewed and pre-approved by staff before it was painted. Many of the paintings were done by students who are no longer with us. It would be a complete disgrace to their memory to destroy them. These paintings are part of the history of the school and they need to be preserved.

Months and months of work go into these murals. They hold insurmountable emotional significance for all current and former students at East Campus. To think of them being taken away to simply be replaced with plain white walls is absolutely devastating. To know that East's principal wants to take these meaningful works away simply based on his own personal taste is infuriating and, frankly, disgusting. Each and every piece is invaluable to the school and should be preserved and respected, regardless of personal opinion.

These works of art are expressive and beautiful. To think that in a year they could all be gone breaks my heart. Some of these murals are memorials to people and students who have passed away and to take that away from us is awful. It truly terrifies and disgusts me that our principal is willing to do this for the sake of his own personal opinion on the quality of the artwork.
