The lack of ice rink will severely hurt the community of Basingstoke and the supporting community. Children should be given the opportunity to participate in ice sports such as speed skating, figure skating, and ice hockey and I would venture to guess that a large chunk of the community of Basingstoke and the surrounding area use this facility at least once a year. We should be giving our youth options to stay active that are outside of the normal realm of rugby or football.

Too many ice sports users would suffer loss of their job/hobby if there was no ice rink in Basingstoke. Needs to be kept.

We need to retain our rinks! Hockey is the best sport in the world. Without our rinks, GB will never be a successful hockey nation and will never succeed at the Olympic Level without preserving our rinks, supporting youth programs or replacing rinks. Councils should have more involvement, and where it is uneconomically viable to repair rinks, modern more efficient, smaller rinks should be developed. Fingers crossed for Basingstoke. Closing the ice rink will deprive so many people, especially kids for whom the facility provides a healthy focus and outlet. We have enough cinemas and restaurants, let’s keep something different with health benefits

I am 12 yrs old and love going to watch the Bison with my grandparents. I have just started to learn to skate and would be really sad if the rink closed. Please don’t let this happen

There are very few ice rinks in the uk yet they support a high number of motivated sports people, especially children. I’ve hock has been a big part of my life. I know that figure skating and even public skating is a big part of others lives. It is not only local people that benefit. The university of Southampton benefits as do other visiting teams. We should be promoting not closing ice rinks.

How are we supposed to encourage people into sport and health if the facilities are taken away? Not everybody wants to run or swim. Britain used to produced champion skaters. It can't do that without rinks.

This ice rink means a lot to the children and adults who use it. Please renovate or rebuild rather than just taking away such a valuable resource to the community.

How can children play sports if they have no where to go.

If the council can build a skydiving centre and museum which you may visit once in your life time they could at least build an ice rink which is a sustainable facility!

The ice rink needs to stay open as it is a vital part of the community and helps children with exercise.

Why take away the passion of so many people, especially in a country struggling with obesity?
