Being an Ice parent then I understand how critical this rink is. I come from Nottingham and we have the double Ice arena, bit still we struggle to get ice time for the teams. I saw some fantastic skaters from Basingstoke compete at the British Synchronised Ice Skating Championships in Nottingham and they have some fantastic talent. Don't let all this talent from so many skaters go to waste. Keep the rink or build a new modern rink that can be a multi purpose arena similar to the one in Nottingham.

It's not just the public skating, closing this rink will kill ice hockey in the area. That would be a sad sad day.

Too many ice rinks are being closed. Our Island has been without one now for over 15 months although our skaters still continue to compete and win medals. We can't lose Basingstoke as well.

This ice rink is important for the community, not only is it host to a successful ice hockey team, it is a place of leisure for families to enjoy while maintaining fitness, something that should be encouraged by the council by its support in upgrading the rink and it's surroundings as part of a collective leisure area of Basingstoke.
As a Bison fan I sure hope to see this rink's continued operation. We already suffer from too few professional ice hockey teams and locations in which to enjoy the game. Let's not fall foul of forcing teams out due to rink disrepair.
