Keep an Ice Rink in Basingstoke

We are losing far too many rinks in this country due to lack of investment and ice hockey teams are dissappearing because of this. The government must play its part but so must local businesses. The failure at Wightlink last year was a bitter blow for the islanders and had a huge impact on ice hockey in the UK. This should be seen as a warning that we should not allow others to fail. Act NOW before it's too late

Basingstoke Ice Rink should be kept open to help cultivate the next generation of figure skaters for the U.K.

Probably the most followed sport in Basingstoke, got to be mad to close it. Planet Ice and the council do what you need to do and KEEP IT OPEN !!!!!

My son's been playing ice hockey for 6 year since he was 8 year old. We have to travel here like the majority of his team mates. We travel on average 3.5 - 4 hours a week to get to training. This is because there are very few ice rinks around. Taking another will seriously affect the skating community not only with lack of training facilities but also competition. If there is no competition how can the sports survive in this country? Far too many have closed over the country already. Please support this petition to keep the rink. Not everyone wants to be a footballer or tennis player!

It would be a shame for another rink to shut down like the isle of Wight!
