Ice Rinks are as important as any other leisure facility, they need everyone support, skater or not.

The leaders of this country should understand that supporting healthy lifestyles should be their task No 1, as it is projected into the future and will avoid many serious problems upfront + will save huge amount of funds that would otherwise be required for healthcare, dealing with drug addiction, running the prisons etc. Sadly and short sightedly most of the ice rinks in UK are seen as failing business ventures rather than powerful means to keep the nation healthy in the future, which should be the role of all the sporting facilities.

Ice Skating keeps kids fit, healthy and off the streets. Planet Ice have a poor track record and have run other rinks into the ground. The lease should be re-let to a responsible operator with a substantial rent free period in order to assist towards the cost of repairing the ice pad.

I am moving into the area soon and have just got back into ice skating after 35yrs. I would be devastated if the rink closed down now. I am 55 years of age it is the only form of exercise I enjoy.

I've been watching hockey and playing against rec hockey teams in Basingstoke for a long season it's been there. It would be scandlous to lose this rink.

The rink has given Basingstoke something special for many years. The skaters and hockey players and fans of the bison are a very dedicated and passionate community. If the council works for the good of the community then saving the rink should not be questioned.

Southampton won’t build a rink. You can’t get rid of the best one that’s just up the road!!!!
