I went to my first away game at the Basingstoke ice arena this week, what a sorry state it is in. I will not blame anyone in particular but think both parties Planet Ice and the council are to blame for not maintaining the building. It would be a great shame to lose such a facility that has people from all over the country come to see Ice Hockey. Closing this venue would be sad loss to fans near and far, not to mention putting people out of work and a place where children can learn a sport something the council should be promoting not losing!

It is a great place to skate. I skate there often with my friends and I don’t want it to go.

We enjoy watch the ice hockey EVERY week it part of a large .ca.ily and commu ity.surely we shod be promoting our young people to engage in these activities rather than other not appropriate activities.please support our young people

It is scandalous when councils plan new leisure developments that replace and remove long-standing ice rinks. PLans should have including a new ice facility capable of hosting ice hockey.

The maintenance of the current rink is awful and disgusting (sewage water coming up through the floor), the council needs to do something about it.
It's not just the league ice hockey teams that will suffer but the recreational teams as well and the figure skaters as well.

It is one of the closest rinks from us. My child has been getting up at 5am every morning for the last 5 years to be able to skate and pursue her dream, i.e. to compete in ice dance at an international level one day. If the rink closes, her dream will never come true. It is the same for many kids who come and train at the rink at Basingstoke on a regular basis. Many lives will be affected.

Will be the worst decision of the whole lot.
We don’t need a Designer village. We need a local sports team that helps grow our community and gives kids an extra avenue to explore different sports when they were younger. Played ice hockey for 10 years and it would break my heart to see you throw it away so we can have more coffee shops in this terribly designed and run town!!!!

Ice skating is a) popular - why has Dancing on Ice returned? - b) varied; hockey, dance, speed and leisure and c) a brilliant form of exercise requiring not a huge amount of outdoor space and constant upkeep and can be enjoyed in a team or solo activity.

This is a community facility, as others have said, we spent wonderful family time here and my children have enjoyed a good few Friday evenings hanging out and having fun in a safe environment. The young need places like this, to strive for success in sports this country have excelled in and to socialise.
