The rink is well used and would be used more if it was in a better condition. We have enough food outlets already. Help those who want to keep healthy by ice skating.

The knock on effect to loosing another ice rink would be devastating to the community. More places need to be opened for our youth to thrive in not closed. It's a very sad state of affairs indeed

Matters began to deteriorate as soon as Planet Ice took this over and it has been the dedication and persistence of the many brilliant coaches there which has kept this place going and helped to nurture real talent; this in turn has helped to maintain an essential part of the area's recreational facilities for young and old alike. To lose this would be a crime.

An ice rink is needed in Basingstoke. It generates profit, entertainment and sports opportunities.

Having been a previous user of the rink it is sad to hear the state it is in. I cannot understand why it has not been maintained and has been allowed to get in this state with so many people and teams using it. I wholeheartedly support a new rink being built into the future plans for the leisure park. If the town is looking to grow as it has done over the 22 years I have lived here with a big development such as the one proposed why not rebuild the rink? It just doesn’t make sense. People need to be more active and this is a great activity.

I was Basingstoke Ice Rink's first General Manager some 3 decades ago. We opened in 1988, introduced ice hockey and all the other skating related activities. Don Yewchin attracted sponsorship from Wella and recruited hockey players from near and far. I can speak from personal experience about this invaluable community asset. Literally thousands of people have learned to skate at Basingstoke Ice Rink and many of those first 'rink rats' now have children of their own who are skating at the rink. I suspect there has been a lack of investment in the facilities for a number of years, nevertheless it will be a massive loss to the town of Basingstoke if the ice rink closes and I urge Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to find a way with public and private investment to keep the doors open!

This is an essential sports facility for our family. We do not favour the proposed electronic games / arcade proposals but doubt that the council will really listen to the local people who pay their rates. The 'outsider pounds' are the real incentive which cannot be quantified - but no doubt the retail advisers will be able to make a massive fist of trying - the council will be the big losers all round.

Ice skating is a healthy and enjoyable sport for adults and children, it would be a great loss if it were to go.

Surely a better investment in the people of this town than the investment support given to yet another Costa coffee shop! I suspect that they have been assured that they will have a place in this new 'leisure' centre. Are any real sports going to be recognised?

If the ice rink closes, Basingstoke will lose a great way of keeping fit, and a great entertainment venue. This must not be allowed to happen.

Keep this open, Make Planet Ice sort it out they have allowed deterioration. (numerous broken promises) Ice Hockey, (numerous teams), Ice Hockey fans, Casual skating and training for potential ice skating champions. Don't let it go without a fight like Camrose.

This establishment is ways buzzing woth life. Many use it. Shame on landlord for not maintaining it. The council should step up.

We need to keep the ice rink in Basingstoke, the nearest will be Bracknell which is too far away.

I do not think it would be fair,to take away a sport that adults and children enjoy, both doing and watching .events.
