Background: The Sequoia Union High School District Board is considering a realignment plan that would exclude part of North Fair Oaks from the Menlo-Atherton High School Boundaries. Using questionable data that contradicts local sentiment, undermining well-established understandings as well as the stated goals of the plan, the proposal divides NFO along 8th Avenue, rather than the traditional and logical line of 5th Avenue. Please help convince the Sequoia Union High School District Board that the plan should be amended before adoption to keep 6th and 7th Avenues north of Middlefield Road and south of Edison Way within the Menlo-Atherton High School Boundaries.

Petition: We, the undersigned, agree that by all measures, 6th and 7th Avenues north of Middlefield Road and south of Edison Way have been, and should continue to be, known as part of the North Fair Oaks neighborhood, and as such should continue to be kept within the Menlo-Atherton High School Boundaries under the realignment plan currently being reviewed by the Sequoia Union High School District Board.

ive been looking over the maps and talking to neighbors who are really worried about this split. its pretty clear that changing the boundaries like this just doesnt make any sense for our community. im putting together all these signatures now to show the board that we arent going to just sit back and let them ignore our neighborhood lines.

i really cant believe how much this has taken off. seeing so many people from nfo come together like this makes me feel like we actually have a shot at changing the boards mind.

MA High is 1 mile closer than the alternative. And a much safer bike ride from this neighborhood, compared to Sequoia HS. Of all the schools in the district, MA has the highest SAT scores and the largest number of college-bound students.

I live north east of Middlefield in North Fair Oaks, Menlo Park and support the school boundary staying at 5th Ave. Our friends / neighbors / active community are on 6th and 7th as well as the higher number avenues. Households on 6th 7th support our local park, watch out for our safety, mingle socially, share concerns. They need to STAY included in NFO boundary for high school.

We are Menlo Park so why can't our children be allowed to go to "our" Menlo Atherton High School? That's one of the reasons we chose to live here.

North Fairoaks is unquestionable a unified neighborhood- more than many, I dare say. Logical school boundary alignment is one more aspect which will reinforce all the hard work to date: traffic calming, street trees, neighborhood watch, playground, park, etc. Keep our children together!

For 6th, 7th Ave north of Middlefield, getting kids to another high school via El Camino would be a hardship. Another reason to not disrupt a vibrant, intact and well networked neighborhood.

6th and 7th Avenues are not the bastard children of the Avenues; we are integral, vibrant members of the North Fairoaks community of neighbors. It is our right to be recognized as members of the community to which we have always identified.
