In a school that prides itself on the creativity of it's students, seeing our school using AI murals instead of human creations is insanely hypocritical. AI art is actively stealing and destroying the creativity of real artists, and also is highly unsustainable to our environment. This is a petition to get rid of the AI murals and instead either commission real artists, or create a mural with the help of the art department.
Please do not take the petition against the AI generated murals as a critique against the school. The organisation of the petition was specifically to voice the concerns of the use of generative AI at a Performing Arts school. I believe this is a talented school with the resources that meant we did not have to use AI to create the murals, but instead should have involved the wonderful and insightful artists at the school.

These horrible attempt's at art do not represent the school at all they contribute to the downfall of creativity and original art. these murals could have been made by the incredibly talented art students at the school and not by ai and put into canva to add horrible PNG images into them.
I am a proud artist at WHSPA. This choice is disgusting. This school has over a hundred kids who would have loved to paint a mural within the school. By choosing AI art is hypocrisy and is actively taking away future and current jobs from the students.
When you appreciate art you appreciate creativity, skill, and perseverance. Ai art doesn't contain any of these things. For a school that focuses on promoting these qualities, it sure isn't showing it in this aspect.
This is unacceptable. Considering that we go to a performing and VISUAL arts school, we are using AI murals?! Teachers are constantly telling us to not use AI and ChatGPT but here this is, the school using exactly what they are telling us not to use. So much for setting an example..
I find it genuinely confusing to use ai art while the school quite literally auditions students into the school for art. I’m sure a senior or class would love such high view wall space to display their handcrafted art.
This is absolutely dispicable they spent thousands of dollars on these when they didn’t need to
It should showcase the students work not AI!! It's a performance school after all.
