I am a piano performance major and I am from out of town - therefore I have no place to practice piano during the break. Please keep the Wellsley building open. Thank you

This building was ESSENTIAL to many of my friends who were studying music at U of T. Please keep it open!

Yes, it's probably a good idea for the Faculty to follow through on its commitment to prepared performances by doing what they can to ensure that students have access to practice space. Keep 90W open over the holidays.

Though I understand the logistical complications (ie - maintenence, cleaning etc.) I think consistent access is one of the fundamental tenets of u of t jazz. Keep 90W open!

As you may know, the University closes down all of the Faculty of Music buildings over the winter break. This is hugely inconvenient for students who can't practice at home and those without pianos.

This is very important for the students who are unable to go home and practice over the holidays.

Is this logistically impractical? Not really. Is this beneficial to students? Absolutely.

We need to practice. The break is a great time to get work done and some serious strides can be made with repertoire.

As a drummer, finding practice space is damn near impossible. Please keep our beloved 90 Wellesley open for practicing and rehearsals!!

The worst part about this situation is that if this petition doesn't go through, teachers are still demanding students to have gained progress and improvement over the break which is extremely unreasonable. Furthermore, a new semester means some completely new repertoire so without a piano some students are going to be walking into their lessons & coachings to sight read - a waste of time for the student (let alone an embarrassment) and for the teacher. If you can find some professors to support this petition as well, I think it will benefit everyone :)

For someone who lives in Toronto but doesn't have a grand piano, it would be very convenient for Wellesley to stay open during the winter break in order to practice on the pianos. Also, I planned on having group practice sessions during the winter because they would not be as full, and the break is convenient because we are all not in school during the day.

Don't see why it doesn't stay open during the break when the building itself can basically be left unattended.

It's bad enough the music library is only open when the music students are in class. This is one hurdle music students should not have to straddle.
