I'm not opposed to it. But it should be grandfathered in. My son played 7-8 house leauge last season and will now have to go from playing a season on full ice to having to play on half ice. There is no gain to him playing next season as it would be a step backward for him. He is unsure if he even wants to play next season. Should be broken up 7 year olds play half this year and 8 year olds play full then bext years 8 year olds could move to half ice as it would not be a step back for them. Its punishing the kids who have alreadly played full ice. Use common sense.

Most of these kids have been playing several years at this point and a lot of them are very talented. Using half ice is like asking them to change their shooting hand, it will definitly hinder their experience. Putting 12 kids of half ice makes it crammed with less puck touches and no room for proper passing. Goalies wont get to see the lines of their crease or properly learn about icing.
All around a bad idea.

Please PLEASE don't make this change. What is wrong with challenging kids to do better and work harder! I can see it for the younger kids but there is NO reason for half ice for the novice group. Some of these kids have been playing full ice for 1 or 2 seasons and all this will do is set them back. My son lives and breathes hockey but I have to say..if he starts next season on half ice I think it will be tough to keep him interested. He has worked his butt of this year to improve his skills. This is a horrible idea and completely unessesary.

My son has four years skating and hockey experience and has been to 8 camps , he's far too skill developed for 1/2 Ice hockey and it's unfair! So many kids skate and play so week at 7/8.

Not a fan of these changes these kids got it taken away when they were 6 and already played 1 or 2 years at full ice now again when they 8 not good!

Our kid switched to the partial ice on their last year in timbits after 2 years of playing full ice and learning positions, I feel that while it helped him with skills it also Put him in a disadvantage in his understanding of the game. It was very confusing for the kids to switch to this new method. Now we're finally finished his first 7/8 year season and he's back on track for playing the game with a full understanding of how to play. He was excited to learn he plays real games again too. What's more frustrating is our area was the only area that played the modified no faceoff rule unless it was after a goal was scored. Which again put him and his team at a disadvantage when playing tournaments with other kids in the city of Winnipeg as they didn't know how to do a face off properly after each shift. I would really be disappointed if they change the 7/8 yr old game again as I can see him lose interest in playing the game sooner than I'd like him too. Sincerely, a concerned parent who sees the benefit of the change for 5/6 year teams but not for the older kids who may aspire to try out for the 8a1 team but maybe too confused if the game is changed again for them.

My nephew plays and they seem to be developing quite well using full ice. They also have a very good understanding of the rules of the game. Please don't change it to half ice.
