My son was affected halfway through 5/6 when they made them go back to half ice and could now potentially be affected again. This isn't about development for him, it's about a game that he loves; on full ice, with lines, rules, a scoreboard, full size nets, refs and most importantly his team. I worry he may lose his passion if he moves backwards to half ice. How can these 2009 kids be told to go back to half ice again? Let the kids play the game they love. They'll develop as they play. This change is going to cause regression in so many of these young athletes.

Not giving the children a chance to experience the true effects of the game is not in the best interest of the kids.

Keep an open mind, change could be good. If other countries are adapting to this structure, Canadian hockey should adapt as well.

How can you make kids who have been playing 7/8 A1 hockey switch to this!! Keep it for 5/6 only!!!!

Initiation is fine but a lot of 7&8 year old kids can skate shoot and pass very well. Let's not limit them and limit the new goalies on positioning with a crease and the dots.

This is not good. My son had his first year of hockey and loved he could play on full ice. I didn't put him in tim bits because he wanted full ice. I think a child won't develop as fast if you do this. I noticed when we called kids up to play they were confused with offsides and icing because on half ice they don't have this. How are kids supposed to try out at 9 years old and not no basic hockey. Keep it the same.

By age 7 they are capable of playing the game on full ice. Please dont change it....the kids excel and build up a better understanding of the game. They build stamina and strive to get better

My son is a 2009 baby. He's among a group of kids his same birth year who had the rug pulled out in their 2nd year of 5/6 hockey (2015/2016) to go 1/2 ice; back to full ice this past year in 7/8 and now potentially back to 1/2 ice for 7/8 2017/2018?! This isn't right. It's regression, and I've yet to hear of anyone directly affected that fully supports this seriously negative change.

Not a good idea.
No boards separating the ice surfaces in the middle. Two games being played with a one foot high foam pad as a separation...sounds like a player safety issue and a major game interruption.
I hope they have a plan in place to provide all of the hockey rinks with a safe ice division for our children. That cost will be delivered to the parents I'm sure.
