Keep 7/8 y/o hockey as it is in Manitoba

Our son lived through the timbit reorganization. Hated every second of it. To target this age group again and make them revert back to 5 yr old hockey is insane. Making them skate on 1/2 ice is not only horrible to their morale it takes away the fundamentals of what hockey and in a sense what we as Canadians are all About. By cutting to half ice the really Good players and just going to hog the puck and refuse to pass just like at the 5-6 levels. No point in learning to skate when you can take 2 strides and be in the net. Let's think about all the players who have started on full ice and thrived. Oh wait that is 99% of the hockey playing population in Canada. Enough of babying these kids. Not everyone wins and that's ok. Sometimes you learn more from losing than you ever could at winning. Parent of a 8yr old who has had enough of this. Let the kids just play hockey!

If you choose to go to half ice for 7years olds as a step up from the 1/3ice. Then separate the 8year olds so they can progress

This new rule is not fair to kids that have been playing full ice for over two years!

I have one child that just finished novice and one with one year left. I cannot imagine how half ice would look like for this age. These kids are skating way too fast by 7/8 years old and need full ice. Not to mention that shock at 9 year old when they need to try out of full ice. This whole idea is absurd and not putting the kids first.

This is awful. 7/8 year olds have already had to play half ice. Not fair to have to go backwards and do this again after playing full ice. Very unfair

Don't change the rink size

If we look at some of are fellow countries and the development of there kids to ours it is far superior and going to half ice in Novice will only slow the development of our kids even more

Keep it the way it was!! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Aren't we trying to promote more exercise!?? Then keep it the way it was!!!

I have a son that this affected last year as he played full ice and "modified" for his second year. Sad thing is he never got to skate to his full abilities until extended season ( which I believe will be an even more popular choice for 5/6 year olds now) My opinion is that this is merely a cry out from the larger centres where ice is a premium and not enough ice times to go around for the younger groups where you have the larger numbers registered. Let's look at the facts...Hockey Canada's track record speaks for itself with how minor hockey was ran previously with full ice for all...all you have to do is look at our World Jr history and the amount of quality of players from Canada playing professional hockey. Makes zero sense to draw off a practice from another country who is still trying to catch up to Canada in the sport of hockey. Disappointing to say the least....

Kids are looking forward to playing full ice with referrers. It's great exercise and fun. Please don't take it away.

I find its the kids that like the full ice and are usually disappointed at the little games.Also, with 4 teams sharing the ice instead of 2 will they be reducing fees? Increasing # of games or just renting out the extra ice and pocketing the cash?

We are not Americans. Don't change our game to copy them. Make ice more affordable so we can actually get the kids skating more not less.

The age group of 7&8 year olds is when kids learn offsides and icings. Can't do this with half ice. This scares me as what are you going to adjust in 9&10 year old hockey...

Don't ruin the game. Development is important but kids love to play.

This would be a huge step back for hockey!

At 7/8 years old children playing hockey have short timed shifts usually and playing on a full rink is crucial to their skills development. Train the coaches don't take the ice from the kids

This is the wrong move, keep Novice as full ice.
