I disagree with the half ice, kids won't develop. Keep the game at full ice!!

Who cares if your kid can skate down the ice the fastest and around the other players. That's not the only attribute that makes a great hockey player. In a year or two when the rest of the kids catch up how has your child really developed.

I believe reducing playing area for the 7/8's will negatively affect their growth as hockey players. I believe this is simply a cash grab by an already greedy organization.

I think this is ridiculous. When the kids get to Atom age they won't have a clue how to play on a full sheet.

My son has been playing hockey for 3 years including full ice 3 on 3 and is more than ready for full ice novice. If you keep catering to me unskilled players the once ready to move up are going to get bored and stop making progress.

Like everything else in life, hockey for kids needs to progress. Changing the 5/6 program was a good idea. It focussed on skills and how to use them in a game setting on a smaller scale. Children grow, and the game needs to expand with them. Half ice for 7/8's will hold so many back. Especially those that played in 7/8's this year and are continuing next year.
We didn't make 8A1 this year and we stayed in House League. Combined with the Extended IP Program we had a lot of ice time. Extremely beneficial! If we had played half ice in 7/8's this year, my son would have not succeeded the way he did on the ice. It would have held back his potential and harnessed his skating abilities.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the most recent changes to the 7/8's program for 2017/2018.

Keep it as it is, or change Timbits to 7, but for the kids who have played a year at full rink this is going to turn them off from the sport.

If children have already played at a higher level then they should be given the choice of what kind of hockey they want to play.
