Would like to see Novice continue to be the same as it was in the past. Full ice games with rules.

It is a very stupid idea. It should stay the way it is because 7 and 8 year olds are transitioning from tim bits hockey usually into the 9 year old and older and at that point it gets very competitive requiring skill and knowledge learned at 7 and 8. These new changes will take away and delay the necessary skill development and understanding of the rules and game. This is where 7 and 8 year olds learn the proper game of hockey with all the rules and concepts such as off side. If the change does go through the kids currently in should be grandfathered in and allowed to play as is. The new ones coming in can do the new system

My son had his first experience with hockey this year on a full rink, with rules. He and his teammates thrived! I'd hate to see them go backwards next year!

At 5/6 my 09 child was given 1/2 ice then full ice. 2nd year in 5/6 it was 1/2 ice full year.
Now that we have done a full year at 7/8, your telling me at 8 he will go to half ice?

It is a false equivalent to use minor soccer and the mini-field. 7-8 year old girls are keenly aware of the ice markings, from face off circles to the goalie crease. Having witnessed 1/2 scrimmage during practices this year, it was a disorganized scrum with very little hockey; however same group of 7-8 year old girls, on the full ice surface, played an amazingly skilled game. 5-6 yes! 7-8 year olds no.

My son is now 13 and I can't imagine playing half ice at age 7 actually i cant k.agine at age 5 playing half ice. These kids watch hockey on TV all the time they now how the game is played I think this is silly. Playing half ice doesn't make them a team player..wanting to be a team player is what makes them. Are they going to have half ice in pee wee? So we have team players and they pass the puck!

Please stop trying to "Fix" something that is not broken. I thank my lucky stars that my son is now 9 years and would not be effected. I can sure relate to the parents and kids that this will effect.

Leave it as a real game! The kids need to learn positions and build stamina. When we mess with it we make it less fun, interesting & challenging.
