Hockey Manitoba needs to get their head out of their ass and start listening to the coaches and parents that are out there teaching the kids. this rule is for the city leagues because the dont have enough ice time so now they can play 2 games at once. Out here in the country where we built and look after our own rinks we have lots of ice time we dont need to share ice. Hockey manitoba needs to quit patting themselves on the back on a job well done and start listening to people outside their cozy little boardroom.

At 7 the kids are ready to skate the full ice and learn the rules. It's disappointing that this has become about how many kids we can put on the ice and how much money can be brought in. Is it to make hockey more affordable? Is this what the idea is? Would like to understand.

My children grew up playing traditional hockey in Manutiba. It didn't hurt them all! There are bigger issues to deal with than this one. If it's not broke, don't try to fix it!

If they move forward with these changes. perhaps in the future they will decide advancement into the playoffs and sport by a coin toss like they did in Calgary. Coin toss could be a National Sport ,,,Couldn't it? And why did they do it. because it interfered with scheduling. Do not change the game.

Went watch grandauter play this winter did not enjoy game at all.kids were learning nothing just one big free for all. This is going to ruin minor hockey

My son so enjoyed his season this year, he says he doesn't want to play if it's half ice next year, that makes me sad. Not because I care if he plays hockey, sad because I know how much he loves to play.

I've been a coach in Manitoba youth hockey for the last 5 years and after seeing the hip program go to this format and seeing kids move from hip to novice , have found this to be very detrimental to thier development. I myself played high level hockey ,ie(AAA midget and junior hockey ) and find this very concerning to the development of my own child who is a 5 year old that has played hip for 3 years and it has become stale for him and not challenging . He will be moving up a level to play novice at a younger age as he is as good as some novice players. As a coach I will not be endorsing this system

Another step in the wrong direction. Need to begin at a young age to teach them the proper way and the way it's always been played

There is nothing wrong with the way the game has always been played. Limiting the ice space for these kids will not allow them to use their full potential. It may be beneficial to some of the more skill challenged players, but for the kids who truly have a natural talent this will be limiting them. Not allowing them to see their full potential. Nobody wants to watch talent be wasted. With no challenge, why would you ever want to better yourself?

Tier the age groups and leave the 7 and 8 age gruop on full ice....half is timbit hockey with scrums all over the ice...we are not playing rugby.....kids need to be playing with kids at their own level which will allow them to touch the puck more....making it a smaller ice surface will only take away from the real game of hockey and make things cluttered as u saw at the manitoba hockey clinic pit pn at east end arena....

Just let the kids skate and play the game as it should be played.. use rec hockey for all these changes

Leave the rules the way they are. Be proud of Canada's game and leave it the way it is.

Not oby should it stay the same teams should also be tiered in ALL leagues to provide challange, growth, and development for both strong players and weaker ones.
