More to my comment on this:
This is wrong, the kids need to learn the skills of a big ice and proper rules to develop into good and great players. If they want kids to touch the puck more than those kids need to learn to play harder and work harder. This is just another way of parents and association thinking we are hurting kids feelings. This is a sport and like in life you only get out of it what you put into it and handing kids things like this in a silver platter is not he right choice. What's next no nets so one team can't beat another team???

Manitoba hockey needs to think about this a little longer. This is 110% the wrong decision.

I have 3 grandsons who play hockey and they are great at it. The youngest is 10 and is very good at it. He started when he was very young and learned the regular hockey that we are all used to. All 3 boys are good players. One is and excellent goalie and the other plays defence. Leave it the way it is.

Kids need the challenge at this age! They need to begin learning the skills used in full ice! Any child will tell you how they look forward to this day!

My son wants to play the game he sees and loves on tv like the heroes he looks up to? Ask the children! They aren't complaining about skating the entire ice, who are we doing this for???

I can't understand why this is going thru. Other then a very small minority of minor hockey associations all others are against it and still Hockey Manitoba is pushing it on us.

Half ice hockey ruins the development of these young children as does remove body contact if anything it should be introduced at atom as that is when the kids are all similar size and less injuries are likely to occur.

To do this would be to hold back our children. I understand this happening for 6 and under players but as a parent who's 6 year old has played for 3 years now it is time for him to move up and push forward to the next level and improve his skating and skills. He's ready for full ice and a traditional game of hockey. Even he at 6 years old wants to and looks forward to full ice games.

This is ridiculous to not allow perfectly healthy kids not to skate up and down a full sheet of ice. Kids need exercise this is how to teach them. Hard work makes you stronger , builds self esteem and keeps you healthy.

My 8 year old had so much fun playing it the way it was this year. No need to slow the game down for them, they are more than capable of keeping up with full ice at this age

We have to let these kids play so they can be strong and ready for when they get bigger. Let's not put them in a hubble which is what seems to be what we're doing these days!!

Full ice needs to be the norm. Play the game the way it is supposed to be played. Hockey is hockey on full ice. If you want to play 1/2 ice call it something else ... not hockey!

They probably just want more money to have 2 games instead of 1, but charge the same for the ice per team. Little kids hockey is already a joke in most Manitoba towns anyway (especially Brandon)
