Keep the 371 service in Kirkheaton

Absolutely must have this service,from kirkheaton to the hospital is just a must for those who don’t drive .

Please keep this service running for people needing to get to the hospital, college and town. It is a vital service!

We really need to keep this service.

I think it should stay because it would benefit the oaps to get to the hospital and even if it’s very half hour that’s fine I don’t see why kirkheaton have to be affected by busses when there’s loads going to places like golcar an Lockwood an all that

The bus service is an essential part of village life

The 371 Service going up New Road and directly through to HRI is invaluable to residents living up and out of the village.

As the 262 is hit and miss, and doesn't turn up many a time, to take the 371 off is just a no-no. Can't rely on the 262 to get you anywhere in time and god forbid anybody has a hospital appointment who relies on the 371 to get there. This village only gets anything as a last resort, including a bus service.

I am writing to strongly object to the proposed changes to the First Service 371. First are planning on removing the extension of the 371 service up to Kirkheaton in May 2019. • Many people use the service for direct access to Hudderfield Royal infirmary (HRI) or to access the shuttle bus from HRI to Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH). If the proposals were to go ahead it would mean 3 bus changes for sick people to access the CRH. This is at a time when many medical services have already been transferred to the CRH site. This will affect the most vulnerable in society such as the elderly and the disabled or those with long term health conditions. A direct service helps those with mobility issues access medical care. The proposed changes do not support the elderly to live active lives and to seek medical assistance when required. • Many families who have children accessing New College and other educational establishments will also be severely affected. The 371 provides a direct route for children and young people. Removing this will mean longer journey times and parents understandably have concerns in relation to safety. • The proposal does not encourage the use of public transport which is crucial to tackling air quality issues and well as supporting physical activity. It is in the best interest of the public to retain the 371 as it is. • The 262 arrives within seconds of the 371. Obviously if the times of these buses were adjusted then the 371 would experience an increase in number of passengers. Residents have reported that the 262 is often unreliable and does not serve everyone’s needs.

I use this service every day to get to college

With exams approaching it is more important than ever that college students have a reliable service.

This is the bus i use to get to college everyday. The 262 is absolutely horrendous, never on time and not frequent enough. They need to realise the impact on the people. What about student, family and friends in hospital and some elderly people from the village struggle to walk so having to switch buses in town to get up to the hospital is ridiculous!

I myself use the 371 bus to get to work and my son needs this bus to travel to and from school

As a larger majority this summer of king James school leavers will be attending Huddersfield’s three colleges and the already inadequate bus service provided by tiger (262) How will they get there ? Pensioners competing for seats with students after 9.30 am . One bus every 30 minutes if we are lucky. This is a large village and first bus wouldn’t do the same with Golcar or Almondbury .

Have found this service invaluable since it started and would be very sorry to see it cancelled
