We, the undersigned, call for the removal of Keene City Councilor Bobby Williams following his repeated inappropriate and offensive comments regarding the tragic death of Charlie Kirk.

In public posts, Councilor Williams referred to Mr. Kirk as a “dirtbag” and a “piece of shit,” mocking his death by saying that he “promoted gun violence and died by gun violence.” Regardless of one’s political beliefs or opinions about Charlie Kirk, celebrating or belittling a person’s death is unacceptable conduct—especially from someone entrusted to represent the people of Keene.

As an elected official, Councilor Williams has a duty to lead with integrity, empathy, and professionalism. His remarks demonstrate a serious lapse in judgment, a lack of respect for human dignity, and an inability to set the example our community deserves.

Public officials must be held to a higher standard. Keene deserves leaders who can disagree without demeaning, and who can condemn violence without fueling more division. Councilor Williams has failed this standard, and his actions have eroded public trust in the City Council.

By signing this petition, we demand accountability and call for the removal of Bobby Williams from the Keene City Council. Our city deserves representatives who reflect dignity, respect, and integrity in both words and actions.

I have been a citizen of Keene for 7 years and I love my town. This is heartbreaking dividing language to use during a time of mourning. To see this coming from a leader in my community is deplorable. Keene can do better, much better.

This is by far not ok and he needs to resign.. a man lost his life, a woman lost her husband, children lost their father. It isn’t a joke, he and his family deserve respect. You can dislike someone and be respectful at the same time. Stop the hate!

Mr. Williams, you are no leader. A true leader.. speaks without profanity, without malice, with grace towards their opposition, and with the good of those they influence and serve at the forefront of all they do and say. That is not you. This was Charlie Kirk.

I am a resident of Keene. I moved here in 2024 from New Jersey. I am highly disappointed and embarrassed to see the inflammatory and hateful speech from a council person He should resign immediately or be legally removed from office.

Public Servants should make all people feel safe and cared for no matter their political beliefs. This man is making many feel unsafe and even threatened if they believe different than him. He must be removed to show that hateful speech has consequences. The hate must stop!

Our community deserves council members that embody higher emotional intelligence with a broader, more diverse perspective than this unempathetic council member who shows a total lack of compassion, a victims mentality, and uses a tragedy for political grandstanding.

Comments such as there are unacceptable by someone in a position of influence.

These comments, among many other ludicrous statements made by Bobby do not reflect the views of the voters he is supposed to represent. He should be fired from his role as Ward 2 councilor immediately.
