Kathrine's Park
A children’s playground has recently been rebuilt in Lotter Street in Kariong – this is the street that our dear late friend Kathrine Wilson lived and who’s husband Matthew and son Aaron still live.
During her many years living in Lotter Street Kathrine always tended, tidied, cleaned and looked after the park and spent countless hours removing graffiti from the old park to keep it in good order for the local children to utilise and enjoy. For years, Kathrine ran her own family day care in Lotter Street and the children she looked after spent many happy hours playing in the old park and utilising the old play equipment. The playground equipment deteriorated over time and became quite derelict and run down and was subsequently removed by the Council several years ago. Kathrine tried for many years to have the children’s park rebuilt and she contacted the Council on numerous occasions to try and get this done. Besides this Kathrine was always such a strong advocate for children in general and particularly in supporting any anti-bullying campaigns.
I have been in contact with Central Coast Council and also the Geographical Naming Board of New South Wales as I would like to apply for the park to be named “Kathrine’s Park” in her honour.
To support my application and add weight to it, I have created an iPetition document - if you would also support the idea of naming the new children’s playground “Kathrine’s Park” would you please add your name to the petition.
Please also feel free to share this post to get more exposure and hopefully more names.
Thank you in advance.
