I’d love to see the statue in Wildwood. It goes along with the patriotism showed with the anthem and God Bless America played every morning along with Wildwood Days. A perfect match.

I find it outrageous that The Flyers removed the statue of Kate Smith over the controversy of two songs she recorded and that she didn’t write. She recorded thousands of songs, and her rendition of ‘God Bless America’ is her most iconic. Ms Smith was the Flyers “good luck” charm for years and the way they’ve repaid her for all she’s done for this country is disgraceful. I call for the Flyers to reconsider their decision or at least donate the statue to a veterans organization that will properly honor the memory of Kate Smith.
Thank you,

As Americans, we honor and celebrate the high achievements of all of our Forefathers. Kate Smith, an American Foremother, should also be honored and revered for her classic rendition of “God Bless America”, a timeless American classic that inspires our Armed Forces servicemen, Veterans, first-responders, and patriotic Americans of every stripe and color.
A small but vocal cabal of radical revisionists seek to tear down America’s history and sow division amongst our countrymen by tarnishing the legacy of great Americans like Kate Smith. As human beings born into an imperfect world, we all have blemishes and personal failings as well as regrets and errors of judgement. Yet America has always been a country of second chances and opportunities for redemption. The legacy of Kate Smith is no different.
Please save this iconic statue of Kate Smith so the American Legion may continue to promote the positive legacy of this iconic American singer.

It's a disgrace what the Flyers organization did. I hope Wildwood does get Kate Smith's statue.

It is atrocious that we hold something that was ok by 1931 standards up to 2019 standards. These incidents have to be measured against the time and standards that they were presented in, not todays. Additionally, one of the great civil rights leaders of the time Paul Roberson sang the same song. Should we chastise him to the same level too? This is a selective attack against a great lady who can no longer defend herself. And shame on the Flyers for not standing up and doing the right thing and defending this icon of Philadelphia hockey!

I was raised listening to Kate Smith on a 12” TV. My parents would join us nightly singing God Bless America! My sister worked at the Spectrum and we were Flyers season ticket holders for years and God Bless America was not only a prayer sung for our country, but a tribute to a fantastic hockey team! I am emotional to know that a veteran organization will now have Kate Smith’s statue so that all who truly know the importance of her work with veterans (pretty much her entire life) will have a chance to “remember” her.
