If you research this topic for 5 minutes you will clearly see that this woman was not racist. Please give the statue a good home.

North Wildwood would be the best place for the statue. After the national anthem, God Bless America is played every day on the boardwalk. Our Mayor and the people who live in N Wildwood would be proud to have Kate’s statue here.

This is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Some people have nothing better to do but pick on a song lyrics that happened almost 90 years ago it's a song you don't like it don't listen change the station. Grow up people it's a song n yes I agree the statue should be brought to the board walk shame on the "professional sports teams. 1 for taking down a statue n 2 for not playing her music

Those songs are not racist against blacks, they praised them, admired their strength through struggle, endurance through pain. HERE IS THE WHOLE SONG... Someone had to pick the cotton, Someone had to pick the corn, Someone had to slave and be able to sing, That's why darkies were born; Someone had to laugh at trouble, Though he was tired and worn, Had to be contented with any old thing, That's why darkies were born; Sing, sing, sing when you're weary and Sing when you're blue, Sing, sing, that's what you taught All the white folks to do; Someone had to fight the Devil, Shout about Gabriel's Horn, Someone had to stoke the train That would bring God's children to green pastures, That's why darkies were born. (The use of the word DARKIES, is an insult to the white people who called blacks darkies, who else would pick the cotton, singing through their pain, hands blistered and bloody, certainly not the lazy whites, they couldn't do it) Kate Smith had no control over the songs she sang, she was under contract and had to sing what they told her to. Hattie Star and Paul Robeson who were black also sang those songs, if they were racist would they have sang them? Let's tear down their legacy as well,  and why stop there, ban rap, etc etc
