Did you know that Hawaiian Language Immersion students are not receiving equal educational support the same as English speaking students?
Complex Area is define by DOE as all Elementary and Middle schools that feed into the High school geographical boundry.
Currently, All Kaiapuni (Hawaiian Language) schools in their geographical complex areas are NOT equally funded, staffed, or supported because they are the minority in their respective complex area. We want an equal voice!!!

- Centralized funding and support systems
- Centralized curricular decision-making
- Congruent networking and lines of communication
- Hawaiian-speaking staff

Aloha. I am the Special Education teacher at a K-12 kaiapuni school. We have one full-time SPED EA. I believe we need two Special Education teachers, one for elementary and one for the middle/high school. Scheduling to meet the needs of our SPED students is extremely difficult. I am not convinced that these studentsʻ needs are addressed adequately. Providing Complex Area Benefits would insure that needs are met.

E kōkua i nā keiki, nā kumu, nā kula.....what are we without our language? Help us to educate our keiki in our mother tongue and beat the statistics.

Kako'o! Immersion needs its own complex. This will save the sate money by creating efficient processes to administer education equitably and fairly for all of Hawai'i's families.
