Funding needed from Pharmac for HER2+ MBC
DON'T IGNORE STAGE 1V!
Over 600 people die in New Zealand due to Stage 1V, advanced breast cancer. Stage 1V breast cancer is cancer that has spread to other organs such as the liver, brain, lungs and to bones. There is no cure, it is classed as terminal. There is research going on for a cure, but at this stage, a cure is not a reality. But it is a reality that some of us do NOT have time to wait for research. We need life extending drugs NOW.
Kadcyla is a combined treatment of chemotherapy & Herceptin, and is used for HER2- positive breast cancer. It has been proven to extend lives by 2 years, in some cases more.
We need to present this petition to the Health Minister David Clark. Please sign & share this petition so we can get as many voices as possible behind this. Kadcyla is unaffordable for most NZ women at $10,000 p/month. This drug is available and Medsafe registered but is not yet publicly funded in New Zealand, although it was funded in Australia in 2015.
We need to get funding asap!

I too am HER2- positive and are paying out of own pocket for PERJETA. These drugs NEED to be funded. I want to be around for my 3&4yr old daughters. It’s an extremely difficult position to be in- get in financial debt to stay alive longer to watch my kids grow up.
Stage 3 breast cancer survivor of 6 years. Shared treatment journey & loss of several amazing women with stage 4 breast cancer. The loss of these beautiful women so soon is unnnecssary & completely devastating for their families, friends & communities. NZ women deserve better!
Terrified - this is a drug I will need at some point in time, and no way we can afford to self fund. Hoping the powers that be will be happy to speak with my almost 7 year old daughter and explain why our country will let me die.
Time for these drugs for metastatic breast cancer to be funded. IT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH, Dr Clarke! I am in North Dunedin and you are my local MP. I’ve always voted for you. Please do the right thing as Health Minister. Australia funds these drugs and fewer women die. That’s a fact.
Am about to go onto Kadcyla and have cashed in my KiwiSaver to afford treatment. However I now have no retirement funds. As I am now unable to work I will have no opportunity to replenish my KiwiSaver.Might be moving in with the kids if I make it to 65
So important to fund this life saving drug that is proven to help NZ woman living with stage 4 breast cancer!
My daughter is 33 with 3 children.. she has triple negative mastisized breast cancer now in brain and lungs.. no funding for this either.. when do these women matter.. all so young and vibrant.. why do we not have options to give these precious souls more time with their babies. With family.. we lose these mum's, the ripple effect of their loss felt forever.. NZ step up..

I am signing this petition because I have stage 4 breast cancer and I am taking kadcyla. It has been working for me. Please, these women need this drug so that they can live. We do not want anymore young children living without their mothers. Please cover this drug. Lives depend on it.
