Net closures destroyed my life, and many others who depended on our fish for business and people who bought fish. Stop the closures. Let's help feed the nation.

I started fishing 10 years ago and the price is much the same. The buyers have control and collusion is the norm. The buyers should stop being so all greedy and selfish and stop making us trouties life hard. Chinw new year prime example of how they control prices now. Its now that if you can't catch heaps its not viable. Very unaustralian

As a trout fisher somethings gotta give our way sometime soon! 7.80 per kg of quota we paid last trip it's nearly not worth catching them! 210 bucks a kilo for a platey at Sydney fish markets we are lucky to get 50 bucks which turns into 42 instantly! It's rubbish

It's time our primary industries, in this case, fishing, were valued. This industry feeds this nation.

Hi Jay, Can I ask why you are presenting the petition already when the meeting is still a couple of weeks away? Doesn't it make sense to try and gather some more support first? Cheers, Tom

My sincere thanks to all of you who are showing support on this issue. We have well over 150 signatures when including off-line participants. The petition represents, fishermen, boat owners, processors and brokers. Importantly it also represents quota holdings of over 100,000 units! I will be presenting my results to Fisheries today, and will post an update on their response as soon as it is available. Cheers, Jay

I am 100% behind Jay Clark & so will 99.9% of all the reef fisherman in QLD will be as well. I have been fishing for 37 years in QLD and the fisheries have never listened and its about time they did before all will be eating fish from Vietnam (Basa!!!). We must try to stop this crazy management as It would appear that they could even run a fish and chip shop!!
