The Director of Public Prosecutions has officially lodged an appeal to increase the sentence for this crime. This outcome affirms our insistence that the initial ruling failed to reflect the true gravity of the situation. I appreciate the dedication shown by everyone who contributed to this effort.

Stuart John McMaster killed a loving, vulnerable and trusting 5 year old little boy called Cody Hutchings. His torture and beatings were cruel, systemic and relentless, even the fear in Cody's eyes didn't stop him. During the days Cody was dying from internal injuries rather than seek medical help for him, McMaster bashed him at least 20 times more. For this he may serve 10 years in jail which is the standard time set for these child abuse crimes and is manifestly inadequate. The Director of Public Prosecutions can appeal this sentencing if the public is outraged enough. To show your support for the D.P.P to appeal, sign this petition and pass it on to others who have had enough of light sentencing for child abusers. This will show the D.P.P that the sentence must be increased on the grounds of vindicating the values of the community and the rights of Cody. Together we wont let Cody down again.

The feedback I have received regarding this case reflects the deep pain and frustration felt by our community. These shared sentiments reinforce the necessity of our request for a formal appeal. I am currently preparing the documentation to ensure that the Director of Public Prosecutions remains fully aware of the public demand for a just outcome.

The momentum behind this petition confirms that our community refuses to accept the current sentencing outcome. This collective response serves as a clear signal that the justice system must reconsider the severity of its decision regarding Cody.

Appeal it now! 10 years is a total insult to that poor childs memory. Lock him up for life.

Sickening. The courts need to wake up and stop letting child killers walk away with short sentences.

My heart breaks for Cody. He deserved so much better than this.

How can 10 years be enough for someone who beat a child while he was dying? Justice needs to be served properly.

10 years is absolutely nothing for taking a little boys life. He should never see the light of day again.

This whole system is a joke. Poor little boy suffered so much and this monster gets a slap on the wrist. DISGUSTING.
