It makes me cry to even think about what happened to Caleb. The person who did this needs to be punished. Caleb might have been "just a dog" to this person - but he was a living being with feelings and emotions and the right to live and play like all dogs - and children- should do. The person who did this might be harming other creatures-including humans- as we speak.
