This petition is in regards with getting stricter punishments for criminals who have performed sexual based offences. As of right now, the sentencing depends on the intensity of the crime. Some range from less than 2 years with probation to one or more life sentences without probation but the latter sentence is rare. This sentence usually comes when a life is taken. We are Early Childhood education students from Centennial College and we are advocating for stricter penalties against sexually based offenders. This entails longer sentences of MINIMUM life in prison for all, making the National Sex Offender Registry available to the GENERAL public, and offering treatment programs for the offenders within their duration of being incarcerated. With this petition we hope to attract the attention of someone who is in a position to make a significant change in sentencing of the justice system. We hope to achieve this through the petition and receiving many signatures, through becoming knowledgeable on this subject and spreading awareness by advocacy.
