We are behind William 100%. I am a Special Education Teacher, my husband is an attorney and our son also has Down Syndrome. This is a disgraceful and disgusting example of incompetence on so many levels-

Press charges, not doing so sends the message that it is okay. The people who knew about this attach and didn't report it should suffer serious repercussions as well

We expect the Grand Jury to review this properly. We expect the school to release the surveillance video to Child Protective Services.

I teacher aide a young DS boy and he has no understanding or control over his emotions. Then I realised, I DO. I made the necessary personal changes so that I could be better at helping him.

As a parent and retired elementary school educator, this decision for this crime, and it is one, needs to be examined. I can't imagine what it is like to live in this precious child's body! The physical and emotional abuse left no marks, apparently. It's the emotional and verbal abuse that he endured and most likely can't express that really can be as or more damaging than physical. He can't speak up for himself! The person who did this to him needs to be accountable. This DA who didn't press charges needs to be accountable. Just because the results of verbal/emotional damage doesn't show outward bruises, the damage is still there and could ultimately be more damaging to William over time.

The video should be made available as evidence. A person who would put their hands on a child in the manner should not be permitted to work with them.

this is an outrage! How dare this women be allowed to continue to work with children! I demand that the district attorney require the school to release the surveillance video!

How can they NOT press charges??? What is the issue? I don't understand what the issue is, if it is on video showing what she did to this precious child. Come on D.A., do the right thing and press charges against the staff for not reporting this attack. Hold all who is responsible for this child accountable, along with the person who attacked him. they are all accountable.

My son Alex is 21, he has Down Syndrome and he attended Wilchester Elementary. The teacher aid who attacked William needs to be prosecuted in order to avoid her to be free to work with other children. The School Principal, the District Police Department and the Spring Branch School District need to be accountable as well. It makes me sick knowing that they knew this happened and did nothing about it. By law, we are suppose to notify about Child Abuse to CPS as soon as possible. The District needs to release the video. I am sorry this happened to William, but I am sure, it is happening more often than we know. We leave our children in the hands of professionals who are suppose to teach them, guide them and protect them! Has this been notify to the TEA?

this wouldn't have been swept under the rug for any "typical child"! My son is blind and non-verbal! I can only hope the hall ways have cameras in my sons! He wouldn't have any way of telling me anything!

This is just sad, I too have a child that is mostly non verbal. I feel both the principal and aide should be punished for this because if something isn't done it will happen again and one of our children will be seriously hurt! Justice for William and prayers for his family!

child abuse caught on camera in an institution full of mandated reporters and there is refusal to cooperate with a child services investigation? It is reprehensable. Any credentialed educator who is involved in this cover up should be held accountable as well!
