We are a family in the SBISD with a child in their AIM (autism intervention) that has (and is currently having) issues with the district, and in particular the Special Education department. Not sure if it helps you or not, but 3 years ago a Para in the district left a severe bruise on our son's wrist. We have the photo, and in order to maintain a good relationship with the district we didn't press the issue. We did raise the concern, the district moved them to another school and/or fired him very shortly after the incident. Now we are in another confrontation with them that is likely going to a hearing.

Makes me sick hearing this. I have a special needs son and this always scared me when I sent him to school.

That video is an educational record and is covered under FERPA and they must give you a copy! I went through this in 2007 when my son was abused by restraints in school. They would not allow me to press charges because I couldn't prove intent! My son was brutalized to the point that DCF found my son was abused but they dont have jurisdiction over schools. I sued the district it was my only recourse... I would love to help you contact me anytime! You must get that video! It is an educational record that belongs to your son under FERPA!

Individuals with Downs are not always able to articulate pain like the average person. To verify this, a medical professional should be interviewed. This is outrageous--if this individual could commit this act knowing that there are cameras in that room. How much more would they do outside of the cameras views

people can be so careless, give no courtesy William deserves justice, not a single person will roam free nearly killing a child, a huge disappointment from a trained professional and deserves to be put in prison.
