The long, painful fight for Steve has finally brought us the charges we demanded. Seeing the outcome we fought for means the world to our family, and I am so grateful to everyone who stayed with us through these years. We have secured justice but we will stay attentive to …
The goal of this petition is to advocate for charges to be laid against the officers who shot and killed Steve Mesic on June 7, 2013. He was shot multiple times by the officers. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the case and the director of the SIU makes the final decision as to whether charges are laid. Please help us in the fight for justice as Steve did not deserve to be killed; especially at the hands of those who are supposed to "Serve and Protect" our community.
Seeing this level of support for Steve reminds me that his life truly mattered to so many people. I am overwhelmed by the momentum behind our demand for accountability.

I have been spending my days reviewing the latest reports and trying to process the silence from the investigators. It feels like the weight of this loss grows heavier with every passing day, but seeing your names here reminds me that Steve is not forgotten. I am documenting everything so they cannot simply look the other way.

Enough is enough. These officers need to be held accountable for what they did. This family deserves answers.

The loss is to great to let it pass. An inquest is mandatory! Let's seek justice on behalf of Mr. Mesic who is silenced. Our judicial system needs to address the citizens concerns for honorable policing. No person/citizen should be exempt from the law. Above all, those in distress need our compassion NOT bullets. It was just an act of Murder, plain brutal Murder, done by a coward with a gun!! And this is good Policing that we the tax payers are paying for!!
2 police, 2 drawn guns, 1 shovel, and this is the outcome!!! Sounds NOT like a city to raise a family if this is the mentality of the local police force!!! Shame on you - Mayor and Police Chief to take so long to speak to the family. Morally and ethically you two should be ashamed to call yourselfs men, Where were you when we needed a leader, LEAD dont hide!!. You could have spoken in private with the families, with out prejudice, you could have spoken publically to the to the citizens of Hamilton during the first week of this mess, but you both chose not too!! SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!! MORALLY AND ETHICALLY you can rise above the law when an injustice is done. You should both be ashamed to call yourselfs leaders.
