I am a 2018 graduate from La Quinta High and instead of writing an entire paragraph of the NUMEROUS ways Mrs. Pedersen, and HER program of Medical Health Academy has shaped me to be the person I am today, I rather question how ridiculous it sounds to simply strip someone from their position which they have been in for the past 19 years. Mrs. Pedersen, like the few teachers that there are is one of the most caring, disciplined, and hardworking teachers of all. As her daughter Jordan has mentioned before, she goes into deep overtime just to make sure that we turn in our assignments, have good grades, are on our best behavior, and making sure next day lesson plans are set. Although of course that is all behind the scenes of which SOME people seem to not see it. I cannot understand why a teacher who has poured her entire heart, sweat, and tears into this phenomenal program is being moved to teach P.E. on her last year before retirement.
NEVER, have I been much more disappointed with a decision made by admin, when there can be far better changes to the school that can be more beneficial than this one.
Mrs. Pedersen has taught her students to be leaders, and this is a fight that we’re not going to lose, for our MHA Mom.

Ms. Pedersen was the best MHA teacher ever. Having Mr. Jordan my senior year was not educational whatsoever. He sat on his phone and handed out worksheets, essentially saying "Good luck". When tests came around we weren't sure what to do because he had never verbalized or even told us what was going on, questions would go unanswered, and while I'm all for learning the material at your own pace and leisure, it's frustrating when the material being taught is never discussed. Students from Mr. Jordan's classroom were always going over to Ms. P's to actually learn the material and ask their unanswered questions. Ms. Pedersen actually takes the time and effort to teach the material to the kids instead of sitting back and messing around.

Mrs. Pedersen was a great help to many of students and made sure to get to know each and everyone of them to find the right intership and opportunity’s for them. She worked hard to get the program where it is today and made a big impact on many of our life’s and always pushed us to continue moving forward.

Mrs. Petersen is the reason MHA is as successful and helpful as it is today. Due to her excellent teachings, I am currently working hard getting my degree in premedicine with full confidence that THAT is what I wish to do for the rest of my life. She has helped many students understand just what the medical field has to offer and has given us the tools we need to succeed in it. To take MHA from her is horrible, but to take her away from MHA is worse. I personally feel that the lose of her knowledge and expertise would be the greatest lose MHA can ever face.

Ms. Pedersen is the reason so many alumni come out of the Medical Health Academy successful and know what to do once they step into college, the work force, and life in general. She has done the work of three teachers ever since her co-coordinator left in November. She continues to lift up this academy by herself. She deserves justice.

I was in MHA from 2011-2014, Mrs. Pederson helped so many of us reach our goals in and after high school. Because of her help, I have just recently completed my first year of nursing school and will be graduating in two years! Thank you Mrs. Pederson for all that you taught us and for your continued support for all of your students!

Mrs. Pedersen started this program. Why not let her finish her last year in charge of what she created? She has put so much work and dedication into MHA. I remember the passion and pride in her eyes every time she would talk to us about how MHA first started. Mrs.Pedersen was a great teacher and mentor. She cared about her students and demonstrated it to us every day. If you want to take MHA in a “new direction” great, but let her finish what she started.

Please, Ms. Pedersen had worked so hard to make the academy what it is and has worked so hard for countless hours. She puts in double work every since our other instructor was removed. She does not deserve to be treated like this and deserve more respect than she’s getting.

“Headed in a new direction” is the most sorry excuse I have ever heard for fixing something that is not broken. As others have stated, Ms. Pedersen is THE literal driving force behind Medical Health Academy at LQHS. She has put 19 years of blood, sweat, and tears into such a landmark program. It’s already worrisome enough regarding what direction the program may travel once she retires, but prematurely removing her from her own “baby” of sorts is absurd, cruel, and absolutely unusual. Speaking of things that need to be fixed, why don’t we divert our attention to the horrendous composition of LQHS administration... that would be a perfect place to start. Nothing more needs to be said. Keep Ms. Pedersen with Medical Health Academy, at least for her last year before retirement. I am still at a loss for a proper reaction...

This program would be nothing without Pedersen. She has worked so hard to make this program what it is and truly cares about her students and our futures. Pedersen spends countless hours coordinating this program even when she isn’t getting paid to do it because she cares about our success. Give Pedersen justice if not this program will fail without her.

Mrs. Pedersen has been nothing but amazing at her job. Spending many hours to help get students the internships they need. My mother works at a pharmacy where MHA students intern at and she says it’s a pleasure having them work and get the experience they need.

Ms.Pedersen has done so much for MHA. She has made the program successful on her own with all her hard work. She has helped so many students out. This program would not be what it is today without all the time and dedication she had put in. MHA is her life and you see that in how hard she works for the program. No one helps her find the students internships, or schedule all the college and medical trips we go on. She has put her sweat and tears into this program and for it to be taken away from her is devastating.

Mrs. Pedersen was a great teacher and mentor. She prepared students for the real world and made sure we knew the importance of a medical career. Although Veterinary Medicine was not covered in the curriculum, she made sure to place me at an internship where I would soon learn everything about the career I wanted to take on. I can’t imagine why they would want to take her out of the program when she has helped so many students with their futures!!! Sounds like they need to get rid of the new principle...
