Justice for Moulana Ouwais

The committee is full of it, they kick imams out like its joke!! They need to change the name to masjid-e-chunara!! The mosque will be empty with the way things are going. We either need new committee members or they need to get their Acts right and stop thinking about their own Financial profiting. They pocket all the money buy or decorate their own homes and cars, Yet they say they care about the Muslim community and they Want to see youngsters coming to masjid-e-Chunara and they betray their own.

It's funny how over the years moulanas and muftis have been kicked out without their knowledge! The committee is only worried about their own financial statuses and how big their balances are to fund their own life styles!! It's shocking how they try be so good Muslims and caring for the community my arse!! We need A new comitee in the mosque if not this mosque will be empty by time you know it, In Sha Allah it don't but if this keeps going on it will defo be closed

As a youth member of the community i feel this decision is outrageous. Hamid chunara is hardly seen in the masjid yet he is the leader. secondly he doesnt do eid with us or ramadan, i am sure mufti salim was removed for the same reason so why is justice not being served this time. on the the hand bakr bhai chunara has voluntarily worked very hard for the mosque, i dont think anyone could do a better job than him even though we all say we all could in actual practice its different. moulana owais will be snapped up in no time we will be the biggest losers of this drama. overall i believe islam is a religion of fairness and justice. Allah knows best but those responsible for preventing the best for the community will answer on the day of judgement.

we will look at this decision in a few years time and say it was ridiculous. As a youth member of the community i feel this decision will impact the youth the most as he helped bring the youth closer to islam. the biggest problem i have is that hamid chunara has been part of the mosque for so long yet he does not do eid or Ramadan with us but leads our committee. its a disgrace to our community. im sure we let mufti salim go for the same reason he did not want to do eid with us. the same should happen to this hamid chunara that way justice will be shown. however bakr bhai chunara has been part of the masjid for so many years and has done a lot of good work voluntarily its easy to say i could fill his position but in actual practice i cant see anyone doing a better job than him. i firmly believe that the committee needs a bit of a restructure with useless people stepping down or getting removed. islam teaches about fairness and justce and its not being represented this time. many youths didnt know moulana owaiss father but i did and he did a lot for the masjid it is only right to keep him. even saying that it shouldn't even be a debate hes a imam thats going to be snapped up in no time. we will be the ones that miss out not him. allah knows best but those who do not follow a fair system will answer on the day of judgement.

It has been a very sorry sequence of events over the past few days. Mistakes have been made on both sides, but that is no excuse for humiliating and ganging up on an Aalim. The committee members and other so called senior members of the community should be ashamed of themselves and it will come back to haunt them. The committee have been using and then abusing our past Imaams which is shameful to say the least. This in turn has meant the community as a whole have suffered. May Allah forgive the sins of our community as a whole and grant us all hidaya. Aameen

I was shocked to hear what happened to this Imam, I work at Manchester Airport and have been coming to this Mosque for years, he's recitation of the Qur'an is absolutely amazing he makes me and few friends come back especially when it's his turn, he has great command of the English language with his logical theories and relevant to today's times and issues and not forgetting his Arabic quotes from Quran and Hadith I have no choice but to listen to him although I had a long shift at work, I also seen school visits to the Mosque which I rarely hear or see in other mosques, with are human beings we make mistakes but he is an asset to this Mosque he really livens up the atmosphere when he has the mic and he also knows how to take money from his congregation. Who ever takes him now is absolutely lucky to have such a Imam who know the art of speaking communicating and to mingle with all. It's a great loss for this Mosque and worshippers, my question to the committee members is think before you get rid of an Imaam.

The people responsible for this decision have proved they are more concerned about their own who's rather than what is best for the community. For the first time we actually had an imam who made a mark on our community through his selfless efforts not only within the masjid but also outside of it.

What happens now? They're not renewing his contract after all this.

Very hard to arrange an AGM as I've heard the so called community said not one for another 5 years, they run the masjid like they own it. Shame on all of them especially those 2 who run it (not mentioning any names as we know who they are)

How do we go about trying to hold another much needed AGM

It's time to get rid of the committee, heard about the meeting today and it made my blood boil. They don't deserve moulana ouweis and unfortunately the committee has too many puppets and muppets and it runs in the family

I fully support this petition to “retain” Maulana Ouwais as our Imam. NOTE: Maulana is not being sacked, the Masjid committee has simply chosen not to renew his contract. Whilst the committee is within its rights to do so, I believe this decision, if not overturned, will be detrimental to everyone concerned, especially the community for whom the committee has been elected to serve and act in the best interest of. Maulana is a tireless self-starter who consistently delivers both quality and quantity in his work. Through his proactive and engaging nature, Maulana has rekindled the spark of deen in many disenchanted hearts. He has given misplaced individuals a sense of belonging to be part of the wider community family and be contributing members of society. He is the type of Imam, we have craved for so long. Now that we have him, the collective “we” (committee and community) must do all we can to keep him in our service. The strong support Maulana has received on here is testament to the affection the community hold for him. We must not lose him. The climate of uncertainly under which Maulana is being relieved, would be extremely unfair to any new Imam. The role would be a “poisoned chalice” as the next person will never be wholeheartedly accepted by majority of the community (especially the youths). There will always be the constant comparisons and they simply will be on a hiding to nothing. It would show incredible strength (and not weakness) on the committee’s part if it were to reconsider its decision, as this would indicate it is mindful of the will of majority of the community. There has been mistakes on all sides that has festered over time culminating in this sorry situation arising. However, one must not lose sight of shared common objectives i.e. the betterment of our community and doing things to please Allah alone. Remember we must all stand one day in the Court of Allah (The All Knowing) and be answerable for our actions and the things we hide in our he

Committee has a great role to play which is to serve the community. Any decisions which are made by the committee should be purely for the community & in no way should involve any personal agenda. Remember we all have to stand in front of Allah swt & Allah swt is the all knowing. Fear Allah, do taubah & change your decision as the community doesn't agree to or want this change of letting ML.Ouwais go. The community of Masjid Noor is a diverse community & ML.Ouwais is needed to communicate.

The Old Trafford muslim community and it's masaajid need high calibre individuals to take us Muslims forward. Let us not concentrate on whatever has happened in the past, but look to the future and see if we can salvage the situation, I'm sure that the Committee and Moulana Ouwais have more issues where they agree on, rather than issues they have a difference of opinion on (which is a form of Mercy anyway), The main thing is that the local community should not suffer, with the loss of an Imam who is from our own community and has worked effectively with the youth, No committee has ever had a 'perfect' Imam and no Imam has ever had a 'perfect' committee. If both parties compromise, I'm sure a solution will be found, My prayers are with both parties.

When Maulana Ouwais Data came to the service of Old Trafford and its inhabitants, it was written for him to serve at Masjid e Noor, he made a difference where many have tried and failed, A GEM of a person like Maulana Ouwais Data is a blessing to this community, you let him go... we have failed in what we strive for. Injustice will not be tolerated by the almighty. The whole community will feel the pain.
