He deserves a fair and just process. The community would far more benefit from a business that has employees than an asphalt parking lot.

Support small business owners! Build the [questionably] "needed" parking lot elsewhere...OR APPROPRIATELY COMPENSATE THE BUSINESS OWNER AT A FAIR-MARKET VALUE FOR THE LAND ITSELF, AND ALSO: COMPENSATE FOR THE COST OF MOVING, LOSS OF INCOME WHILE OUT OF OPERATION, STILL NEEDING TO PAY EMPLOYEES BENEFITS, ETC WHILE CLOSED, COMPENSATE FOR THE 20 YEARS THIS BUSINESS SERVED THE COMMUNITY AND THE LOSS THE OWNER WOULD FEEL FOR BEING FORCED OFF HIS PROPERTY AFTER DECADES!! We've been to Mc Farland, and there's no shortage of parking... Compare a slab of cement/asphalt to a tire shop which employs and helps the local community members (and helps travelers from the highway get back on the road after a flat/blow out!)...If you want to serve the Mc Farland community and future visitors, maintain and upgrade local small businesses--don't tear them down!

Should probably leave a business in place that's been around for 20 years well alone. The tax revenue would be lost if you force this business out of business. In a business climate that is difficult at best, think about the 20 years of tax revenue that you've enjoyed as a small city that you're attempting to hijack and shirt change in the process.
