Greetings. I write this petition representing Joseph Estevez's senior homeroom class at Westshore Senior/Junior High School. We are seeking support due to the recent unjust ruling against our homeroom. For context, each year at our high school, every homeroom decides on a homeroom name and flag design; additionally, for the juniors and seniors at the end of the year, they get to dress up according to their homeroom name and compete in a series of fun challenges against other homerooms. So, this year, we planned to dress up to all look like mamas and cartoon mamas. However, even though we decided on this name at the beginning of the year and the admin staff approved it, recent irrational thinking has caused them to believe that the name refers to black slang and that our homeroom would incorporate blackface into our costume designs, which is incredibly incorrect and far from the truth. Nevertheless, this is where we are calling on people's help. By signing the petition, you agree that the decision was asinine and should be reverted; you help build the number of people in support to show admin that more than just one person cares; also, you help us seniors have a fun Wildcat Challenge as Joe's Mama's!
