As a mother of tran-women, I fear how they may be treated if something horrific were to happen to them. The least you can do is respect Jax's name.

This woman deserved dignity in death, and her family deserved respect. Do better, and create a joint task force to monitor the progress of the investigation into her death.

Independent oversight will prevent a precedent being set in Lakewood that will endanger trans people everywhere in America and beyond.

We need justice. We need freedom now

I am writing to ask that you form an oversight committee to investigate the death of Jax Gratton. Unfortunately, law enforcement has consistently failed her throughout the entire investigation, and her family deserves answers and justice for her brutal death (which is not highlighted in the report, but we all know bones don't break on their own). I also request that her death is kept in dignity and that her pronouns and name are used with respect and consistency throughout any investigation. Thank you, anna francis

Jax had such a widespread impact and she was such a beautiful person. Her death is a tragedy that will be felt deeply, and the fact that institutions have treated her death with such negligence is an injustice that must be rectified. I stand with everyone demanding justice for Jax.

Coloradans stand with our trans and LGBTQIA community members. Lakewood PDs mishandling of the Gratton case reveals a deep wound in this state. Do not forgot, the PD is supposed to work FOR the community, and this community has spoken.

Every human being deserves respect and justice. Sweep aside stereotypes and biases. See Jax as a fellow human being. Do for her what you would do for your friend, family member, neighbor, or colleague.

SHAME on you Lakewood Police!

We demand justice for Jax and for all Coloradans who are traditionally underserved at best and oppressed and denigrated at worst by the systems in place in our state that are supposed to protect them.

The way this has been handled is unacceptable. Did the Lakewood PD not walk a perimeter of the building of the person last seen with Jax when she first went missing? Has the apartment been searched? The things “undetermined” by the autopsy don’t make any sense - if GHB was in her system, it wouldn’t have left that quickly if she died and her metabolism stopped; if her neck was broken post-mortem, shouldn’t there be differences in blood settling? What position was her body found in and does that show signs that she fell, was pushed, or that the body was moved? If she was sitting up propped against the wall, that’s really unlikely to be how she landed. How did the delays of the medical examiner contribute to her decomposition? Is there any proof or alibi showing that the two men with her that night did leave the apartment? There is more that CAN be done, but Lakewood PD clearly has no desire to care for this woman’s life. Personal politics should NEVER interfere with the function of a public servant’s job performance. There needs to be oversight ensuring accountability and integrity in this investigation.
