On Sunday April 6, 2014, a crime happened in the Tracy Street Park located at the corner of Broadway and Tracy streets in Rensselaer. This crime continues to have a profound impact on the community as a whole. It was on this day that Falcon Seney, an 18 year old woman with disabilities was assaulted by a group of children. Falcon has an innocence that you can see by speaking to her, yet she has shown true grace, and courage when she has met with the local news stations. As of today, News Channel 13 (WNYT) and News Channel 6 (WRGB) have covered her story. We ask that you find it in your heart to sentence the juveniles responsible for this crime to the maximum sentence allowed by law. While bullying is a factor in this case, the bigger factor is the fact that a defenseless person was attacked. The circumstances could have been deadly, but thankfully were not. I’m aware that in order to be placed in detention center, there are certain criteria that must be met, thanks to juvenile justice reform; however, this case is one that should be looked at differently. This group of children that performed this heinous act is a threat to the well-being and safety of not only the children in Rensselaer, but also the adults that they feel the need to attack. Please give the attackers, the toughest sentence allowable by law for this crime. Please give Falcon, the justice that she deserves.

I keep thinking about the park and how it used to feel safe before all this happened and my inbox is just blowing up with people telling me they remember that day too. It is weird how the silence from the people in charge is actually louder than anything else right now so we just have to keep putting pressure on them until they have no choice but to listen.

Something needs to be done about this atrocity! And there needs to be some form of accountability taken by the the parents of these aggressors, and also some form of continued follow up to make sure that these children are supervised properly. The amount of un-supervised and dare I say, neglected children in the city is getting out of control. This may be an extreme case, but there's many lesser, but no less damaging, cases of bullying going on around this city daily.
Knowing what these children did to this little girl disgusts me. I was driving through watervliet, and noticed a group of kids surrounding a young boy. I flew into the park, and chased the entire crowd away! Then I told the kid to " GO HOME NOW AND TELL YOUR PARENTS WHAT JUST HAPPENED" I was a victim of bullying, and I suffered most of my childhood with this issue. Take these heartless animals off the streets! JUSTICE FOR FALCON!
What kind of message are we sending these children,With a s simple slap on the wrist,Make them accountable for there heinous actions,This bullying has been a huge issue,This just proves it even more,Children,Should feel safe,This is to me a gang related crime,I am a mother of 4 as well,And i can say,If i were in this same situation,I would want justice,They make all these laws,Like the ' Leeander Law',Why not make one called 'Falcons Law'',To show we will no longer tolerate any kind of bullying
We as Parents need to come together to put an end to bullying remember we teach our children their morals and values ! I applaud Falcon in not just walking way and would hope my 13 yr old son would do the same.
i can't even imagine this hapning to falcon let alone to any child, i too have a special needs child & we need to make our town safe again!!!

I was impressed at how articulate & courageous this young lady was! She did not display any disabilities in my opinion as much as those disrespectful delinquents did in my eyes! SHE is supposed to be the one with developmental disabilities but stood loud & proud defending elders & other children risking serious injuries and/or fatalities! Falcon is a hero & the rest get a big fat zero! I admire her strength & courage!! She certainly has my full support! Im still saddened for her as she had to endure such mental, physical, spiritual, intellectual & emotional pain for standing up & doing the RIGHT THING! Falcon is a far bigger powerful giant than the little cowards who beat her & believe they are big, bad, popular people who pride themselves in bullying, etc. But they are only puny little punks who think they are cool! NOT COOL!!! Wounded people hurt wounded people... Hurting children hurt... Abused, abuse & so on!!! I blame absentee parents who lack in their parental rights, parenting, guidance & supervision skills, etc... Obviously cant control their own children nor are they behaving as adults themselves!!! In any event, it is all so serious issues & shameful!! Needs to be addressed appropriately! For the record, i am totally unrelated, unbiased, objective, not swayed, have no ties to any of these people! I have not even heard nor do i know their names! Just Justice for Falcon! OR anyone else...

The fact that a 14 year old initiated this attack, is vile enough. But now, is she even being helped, or punished? If she does this at 14, unless you catch it now, who knows what else she could do to herself or to another person? I don't know about sticking this kid in with a bunch of hardened criminals when she turns 18, but she should most definiltey be getting some kind of counseling.
