I am a Boone Country resident. Jack Kaplan needs to be held accountable for his actions of recklessness while operating a motor vehicle under the influence, resulting in the death of James Charles D. Dupler. Notably mentioned are the incongruences involving the statements given by Kaplan and his father, as well as the substantial amount of evidence provided illustrating their involvement in the obstruction of investigation related to the scene of an accident. Dropping this case is simply an insult to the Dupler family, which deserves justice, therefore an outcome of this nature cannot be maintained under our current constraints of a Democratic Republic governing system. Criminals must be held responsible for their crimes. I implore Boone County officials to retry Kaplan under a jury of his peers.
