People like this don't deserve leniency. He's a college student, certainly smart enough to know you don't leave someone to die on the side of the road because you're scared. I bet Chris was scared too. The accident was certainly not deliberate or calculated, but running, hiding & covering up the evidence was not only deliberate but cold-hearted and calculated. Why should this coward's life, future and family be more important than Chris'. He should be ripped away from everyone he loves with no warning and should get the maximum sentence. He can't care too much about his education if he was stupid enough to do drugs and drive. Gob Bless Chris' family, I hope you get the justice you deserve.

We need to prosecute this man to the fullest extent of the law. Why should he be granted ANY leniency when HE chose to run from an accident scene after striking and killing a human being. He ovesouly has no reguard for the human life taken and deserves the max penalty without mercy.

Any way you look at this, he is a murderer... he made the decision to leave the scene, he made the decision to hide & clean the vehicle, he made the decision to sit in silence. How is this person to learn a lesson if he's allowed to finish school on time & have a delay in punishment which is only to span one years time? Lesser crimes have required more jail time than this. A person's life was taken & the guilty, the coward, ran & hid; his punishment is not justified for the damage caused.

I believe that this case should not be allowed to be plea bargained at it resulted in a loss of life. Also based on the fact that he fled the scene and it took months of costly tax payer and police efforts to find the culprit..

As a Detective, I have seen many lenient sentences passed down. Frankly, I have come to believe that the reverse is true- more guilty walk free than innocent get condemned. And as word gets around that this is what you can get away with, more people (whether privileged or poor) will get away with more and more crimes. This won't happen quick. But it will happen if we don't nip it in the bud quick.
We also need to consider who we want on the bench.

Chris was an amazing man who is loved dearly by many ....His life was taken in a blink of an eye . I think if the man who hit him stopped to help Chris instead of taking off the out come might have been different. But to hit someone and leave well he should have the book thrown at him . I just know Chris was amazing and everyday is very hard to get through because of this senseless death.

he took someones life and destroyed evidence he killd some ones son some ones father and hide from that an did drugs while all this happened he was probably drunk or high at the time he needs to be made an example of I say no leniency

As the neighbor whose house Chris was leaving that night, wife of the man who witnessed the entire scene, watched the car speed away and tried to bring Chris back to life, and who sheltered Chris's family from the mayhem, please look beyond the trama of this young foolish man and see the incurable pain and loss of so many. The life of a hard working, loving and generous man has been taken away unjustly to never be returned again. Please consider a just retribution to all those suffering this heinous loss.

This wrong on so many levels. Why should he not have to pay for taking your son's life. Just because he used a vehicle and not a firearm there should not be a difference. Had he shot someone I doubt he would be given leniency. He can continue his education in jail with lots of time to study!

Nothing can bring Chris back. But just punishment for his killer is the only way to ease some of the pain...a pain that will never truly go away.
