In following this horrific incident..it's 'more of the same.' Chaco, a socialized wolf, a member of the Seacrest Preserve, got disoriented after flooding & was heading home when he was targeted & killed by FWC. This was an execution & that was certainly NO Conservation Commission~! Any investigation has been met with outright lies. The public has the right to know what happened in this case. It's a public institution & the information on how it acted should be public..but to all replies: lies. The public deserves more. Chaco deserves more.

The incompitence FWC displayed is tragicly unprofessional. Either there was gross misconduct and/or miscomunication within the agengy or the agency straight up lied. Either way reflects pooly on an organization the public is supposed to place their trust in.

Disgusting and very very sad that they could act to preserve such a beautiful animal!

Just immeasurably sad...my heart is heavy for the needless, senseless, and un-warranted loss of this magnificent animal...and angry at the precipitous lies that led to this end...

There should be a punishment for the one that shot and killed him, that is murder!

This was a tragic, senseless act on FWC's part. I have personally met Chaco with my CHILDREN at Seacrest. Was he a danger to others? No. Was he IN danger OF others? YES... the very one's sworn to preserve and protect if at all possible. FWC made incompetent and lazy decisions that night. SHAME on them.

My husband and I visited Seacrest two years ago and were very impressed with how nice and well run the preserve was. It was very educational and we went in several of the enclosures. I am very saddened to learn that the authorities have acted and are acting so unjustly. There is no reason they could not have put their efforts towards the humane capture of Chaco instead of killing him. If they manage to smear Seacrest's good name and bring further hardship to the preserve, I will be very upset. The public needs to know the truth and stand in support of Seacrest.

Very sad to hear that a beautiful, misunderstood endangered animal was shot dead by the FWC. Why? This did not need to happen, should of used a tranquilizer gun.

i am outraged by the actions of the fwc, no one should be hunting wolves period right now due to the massive losses created by idaho and other states. these wolves may not be native to florida, but that doesnt give you the excuse to shoot one for no reason other than that he escaped out of his enclosure during a massive and damaging rain storm. he was harmless period dot.

Unreal ! How could this happen !! FWC can just lie to people and then shoot a defenseless animal They should be held accountable, and the person should be fired...

This should have never happened. It's disgraceful, dispicable and horrendous! It's like killing your neighbor's dog on purpose and not being charged for such a crime. Unacceptable!
