WISCONSIN RAPIDS - A Wisconsin Rapids man was convicted Wednesday of killing his 15-month-old son after becoming angry the toddler spilled his milk.
James L. Georgeson, 33, was found guilty of second-degree reckless homicide as part of a plea agreement. The charge was reduced from first-degree reckless homicide.
Wood County District Attorney Craig Lambert told Judge Todd Wolf he will argue for Georgeson to receive the maximum sentence of 17 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision. Wolf scheduled Georgeson's sentencing for Dec. 14.
Officers and emergency medical services noticed the boy had bruising on and around his eye and forehead when they responded to a 911 call about the unconscious child in February 2017.

Georgeson had picked up the boy from his mother's custody for a visitation earlier that day, and brought the toddler to his home on Big Oak Road. He at first told police that he had put down the 15-month-old childfor a nap and later found him blue and gasping for air. He said he had hadn't seen any bruising on the toddler and had no idea what could have caused the boy to lose consciousness.
Georgeson later told police that he had become upset with his son when the boy threw a sippy cup and spilled the milk inside of it. He said he picked up the toddler, shook him, then placed the boy on a bed and left the room.
After Georgeson found the child blue and gasping for air, he called 911.
The boy was taken to Marshfield Medical Center, and doctors there said the child had multiple bruises on his face and head and his brain was bleeding. The boy died from his injuries.
An autopsy showed the boy died from multiple blunt-force injuries to his head. The boy's name has never been made public.
Georgeson, who pleaded no contest to the charge, has been held in the Wood County Jail pending a $250,000 cash bond.

This man is a monster. 17 years is simply ridiculous. Life for this man who PURPOSELY killed his own own child literally over spilled milk. Dont let him live another day.
This man dont deserve to be out walking the streets. 17 years is NOT enough. He deserves LIFE.

This man watch his child die away in a hospital bed and then tried to take off was found but this is not justice for a whole life being taken start showing harsh punishments and maybe more lives would be spared...the custody courts need to start being more responsible too this man had several complaints of abuse and the court made the mother give her child to this monster and he took his life....some mothers need to be listened too if they feel their child is in danger then it needs to heard and responded too accordingly too
