amanda does not deserve such a harsh sentence she is a very loving caring and honest girl who has been through alot and maybe doesnt have the propet tools to deal with her pain so locking her up is only going to make her angry maybe rehab would be better for these girls that have suffered a lose of a child

I've known Amanda Miller for a little bit over 1 1/2 yrs. She is a great person inside and out when she is sober. When the addiction kicks in she is a totally different person. Amanda has been through so much in her life that the pregnancy took her by surprise. Amanda was very Happy and sad because she knew she had to change her ways with her addiction. That itself was a huge step, struggle and admittance. She cried many times because she wanted and needed her mother Linda.Linda lives out of State in North Dakota. As a friend to her I tried to comfort her, that helped her look at her life and wanted to change but had no idea on how or where to start. I think her having a lighter sentence and putting her in a the area she needs help in the most. I have realized in life that everyone has issues, problems within most of those people have parents to support them Amanda didn't. What makes her so different from everyone else? She made many mistakes growing up, when she found out she was pregnant it die touch her and she wanted to clean up. I feel that the 15 years will not help her in the right area. In life we regret things we've done or said to people.I pray that the sentence be reconsidered in this area

I knew Amanda when she was a child. She was in trouble a lot. The fact is that adults always cast her out and she never got the support a child and teenager needs. Her behavior is a result of her experiences as a child. She deserves a chance to develop into a productive member of society, with proper guidence. She never got that chance as a child. I do not know the details of this case but I can't imagine a situation that would justify 15 years in prison. I'm sure she needs something but prison is not the answer. and she never got the kind of support that a child should.

I am strongly opposed to a situation such as this, where a person is immediately punished for something they may or may not be guilty of. It angers and frightens me how much power CPS holds. This agency can take our children, our hearts with little to support their action. I recently learned that the people working there aren't even required to have a college degree. Many of them aren't licensed Social Workers, but merely "Case Workers". It shocks me that CPS doesn't have higher standards for people they give so much power to. Something needs to be done because ripping a child away from the family is a harmful act in and of itself. It hurts the family of course, but the biggest victim in it all is the child.

15 years is not was the distraught mother needs to for rehabilitation. She clearly needs something other than prison and reunification.
