Eighteen of Waitrose's best have been SACKED after eating scraps of food destined for the bin. The workers were loved by customers, some who visited daily, and while under harsh working conditions; often missing breaks, ate cold/out of date/to-be-binned food to keep their energy going. Managers were known to bully employees and avoid the cafe despite knowledge of employees suffering.
With mortages to pay for, single parents with children to feed, this petition looks for the 18 Waitrose staff to be reinstated with benefits of proper working conditions and a formally apology from Waitrose managers.

I will not shop there again until they are reinstated. I don't know anyone involved but a warning would have sufficed and perhaps a free fruit bowl for staff to eat if they are hungry!
I think this is absolutely disgusting. I work in hospitality myself and to think that you could be sacked for eating half a chip is laughable. Especially such a big company like Waitrose !!!!! Get them reinstated
Firing staff for making use of food that would be otherwise wasted, is not a good reputation for a company in a wasteful world to have.
the managers have used a hammer to crack a nut here, when a whole team breaks the rules the problem stems from something bigger - head office turn your attention to WHY it was allowed to get this bad !!!! shame on you, so called good employer
I go there every Sunday, I knew something was off, sent my latte back 3 times and atmosphere created by staff I didn't recognise was off putting
What has Waitrose come to!!!!
Actually my friend got suspended and she was shown herself on camera eating one chip. So clearly not a rumour

What a disgrace! Yet the management themselves have no problem helping themselves to a few rouge chocolate buttons when the shutters come down. They love the sweet taste! PATHETIC!
