This campaign is simply scaremongering. One of the likely bidders on the 29th January are the present occupiers of the stadium who have four development sides and a first team made up predominantly of local youngsters and ex-Hinckley United players, and they have made it clear that should they succeed at the auction the facility will be open to ALL youngsters veterans, women alike, whatever club they happen to belong to..
Compare that to a so-called 'phoenix' community club who have very few local players within their ranks. Their status as a phoenix club is more down to supporters, a number who I admit are passionate in their support of local football but also include those who in the past have commented on various discussion fora that development sides and junior football were a waste of time, but at the present time involvement with junior football suits their cause. If the council have got money to waste on projects that the private sector are able to finance quite ably then the politicians need to look at themselves as to where their priorities lie. To suggest the facility would be 'lost forever' is quite frankly laughable.

It is extremely important to maintain a location for the junior football club as the loss of this facility will make the process of developing the club for the children more difficult and protracted.

This was paid for partly with council tax payers money - it should stay in the hands of the community.

How can a council even think about selling off these vital facilities for our youth in the town?
