This website has auto placed my location as Telford. It's not, I live on Gathorne Road.

Pulling out from Gathorne Road when there are cars parked illegally outside the butcher's and the baker's is difficult in a car and very dangerous on a bike. Since there are cars parked on those yellow lines pretty much all the time those shops are open it greatly increases the likelihood of an accident and serious injury. Something more physical than a yellow line is required to deter people from parking there.

This junction is really dangerous and it is becoming extremely difficult to turn out onto North Street because of illegal parking outside Parsons. There are also a high number of people driving the wrong way down the street

The angle this junction makes with North Street means it becomes unsafe when vehicles park illegally adjacent to it. A similar extended curb to those added to other junctions would provide increased visibility and make the junction safer.

Hi Richie, Bristol Post reporter here. I would be happy to look into doing a story on this petition. My email address is [email protected] . If you would be happy to talk to me about this issue, send me the best number to get you on. Kind regards, Conor

This is a really dangerous junction, as cars are always parked on the double yellow lines outside Parsons during opening hours, which obstructs the view. I asked a traffic warden if they could do anything, Answer was no as they have to give people 5 minutes. There’s a constant stream of people stopping for less than 5 minutes, to grab a coffee. In the morning, it’s often work vans, which really obscure the view due to their size. Problem is often exacerbated by delivery trucks sticking out on the other side. It’s a one-way street so there is no alternative exit. Everyone who uses this junction regularly has had near misses or has had to emerge blindly. There have also been accidents.

There is nearly always a vehicle parked outside the bakery on North street. Very often a high van or truck, which completely blocks the view as you approach the junction. It is impossible to see cars coming from the Tobacco Factory side, and the only way to exit onto North street is to slowly edge out into the junction, putting yourself into the oncoming traffic, in the hope that they will see you and stop. This in an extremely dangerous junction, and I have had so many very near misses. There should be a similar extended section of the pavement, as the end of Lime road, so that vehicles cannot park outside the bakery.

I had a collision with three children in my car (one a new baby) due to a speeding car on North Street and a huge van parked on the double yellow lines by Parsons, obscuring any view of traffic. When I got out to assess the situation I was heavily, verbally abused by the truck driver and another passenger when I pointed out their illegal parking and the danger it caused. Every time I have to leave this junction (twice per day) I dread the turn and feel unsafe as I make the manoeuvre due to the inevitable vehicles parked on the corners.

Given how busy North St is, this is of paramount importance.

Constantly having issues at this junction because of illegally parked vehicles on the corner of this junction. Very bad in the mornings and very dangerous

I regularly cross this junction and recently have noticed that it seems more dangerous with car drivers popping in to park at the end of Gathorne rd without looking who is crossing the road (They shouldn't be going from north st into gathorne rd anyway as it is one way) so pedestrians wouldn't necessarily be expecting to need to look for on coming traffic in this direction.

100% support this - I drive out of this junction everyday with my children in the car and the number of near misses I have had I cannot count - this coupled with people driving over the speed limit up north street has added to the amount of times I get beeped for trying to slowly inch out of gathorne.... most of the vehicles parking illegally are vans - which adds to the blocked visibility! The amount of times I’ve sworn under my breath trying to get out! Please do something about it!

Needs to be sorted as it is a major safety hazard. When cars or vans park illegally on either corner the sight line is nil. Pulling out on to North st is so dangerous

Sticky out junctions are needed here

Simple solution to poor parking in Bedminster and Ashton. Key the car, and see if they park there again.

There is always someone parked illegally blocking the view!

This is a tricky junction, cars and vans are often blocking the view and the road exits across a busy pedestrian thoroughfare in the middle of a busy shopping street.

Lack of visibility at this junction is a major hazard for all road users, and any pedestrians trying to cross the road.

This junction has been unsafe since we moved in 11years ago. People stop to ‘pop in’ to the bakers and are a complete blind spot for anyone trying to turn right out of the road. No matter how slowly and carefully I try to inch forward to see safely, I am frequently beeped at by drivers who can’t see me until it’s almost too late. Traffic wardens are unable to do anything as they have to wait 5 minutes by which time the driver had moved on. 5 minutes may not seem like much but when the obstruction is there almost every time I drive out of my road it is a significant nuisance, aside from the danger aspect. I have had several ‘near misses’ in spite of how careful I am. We also have blue badge holders stop there for longer periods of time, in spite of blue badge guidelines stating that you may not be an obstruction. Nothing short of a physical barrier/building out of the road will improve our safety.
