Kaori, my presence (or lack thereof) in Mr. Gracia's life is irrelevant. The petition would hold the same meaning no matter who had started it. He doesn't deserve to die.
He shouldn't have to pay with his life for the actions of his friends. I want to see him live to 99 like in his dream.
No matter how horrendous the crime maybe, there is always a difference between a common criminal and a guy who made a mistake. He only showed off his knife skills to have the court recognize his compatantcy. He needed something to feel proud of. Bwing proficient with a weapon has nothing directly to do with killing, especially in self defense.
Texas has a stand your ground law and Joseph car was a ground to protect.
And he should not be charged with capital murder if he wasn't in the immediate area to be able to kill the officer with a firearm.
The parties law will claim the lives of many more condemned unjustly. He is the only way viable to stop this law and save his life and many others who will undoubtedly be executed unjustly for other crimes in the future.

I think Melissa is not around anymore(sorry if im wrong)and It,and dispute who shoot officer Hawkins makes this petition difficult.I felt Joseph had difficulty with legal help,and It's strange 6 people sentenced to death for one person.I hope someone who is current friend began new petition,as The US5CCA denied his permission to appeal

I couldn't agree with you more John Smith.
I only signed up to the site so that I can make a comment similar to yours.
However I have learned something that does upset me-it actually costs MORE to house someone on death row, than LWOP.
So I am undecided which is the best option: fry them which is what they absolutely deserve, but which actually costs more, or let them suffer in jail for the rest of their life-which is the cheaper option.

I do not know all the details of his case, however after watching the 2012 video I believe that Joseph is truly sorry and deserves to have his life! I wish him all the luck in the world and pray he stays strong and hopeful!
