Jonesboro City Council-Save Historic Rothinghouse Block 1896

I was 4 months old when Dad bought this store and they came back from Alaska. Not sure about when the store was sold to Wilber Webb.

This planning commission is only doing this for personal reasons the city government has turned their city into a joke it's the most unsitely place in the county

My family (mom's side) was in Jonesboro in 1843, maybe earlier. They were grocers, of course. There's a Pierce grocery in this photo exactly, where it was when I closed it down. Growing up in Jonesboro was like growing up in a Norman Rockwell painting. It's worth saving and what can't be saved is worth reclaiming.

I grew up in Jonesboro, it was an awesome town at that time. There were little markets, 2 gas stations, barbershop, Dr Baskett, Webbs drugstore, Several churches, an engineers office. The town needs to take some pride in their home town and restore it to the awesome place it used to be.

i lived in Jonesboro most my life. leave the building alone it is history. You need to quit tearing down history.

I was born and raised in Gaston, we also had a empty old building, more than one empty building in our town to be honest. After several years of sitting empty the building was sold. The new owner seen the potential of the building. We now have a restored building with upstairs apartments and businesses in the lower half. There are pictures of the businesses and building on Facebook. Look for the Barking Cow ice cream parlor. Don't be so quick to condemn a old building that could still serve your community.

The city council needs to know this is WRONG! Why on earth would they try to destroy history & tear down one of the few buildings people are trying to improve upon in the city.

Not only saving the building, saving the town. If not for Ride & Leather tumble weeds will be blowing down the streets.

Let's save a part of history. It's so sad to let it go

THe old building are worthy of being saved. How will future generation eve connect to the past if everything is torn down? The log house at the park is a good example!! I lived in it before it was moved and the memories are still there every time I see it! My mother had a dry goods store on mainstreet and my grandfather had a barber shop there.

Save these buildings, fix up jonesboro not tear it down, bring businesses in not push them out! Why change something that is not needed spend the money to preserve them. History is what needs to be preserved not forgotten or removed.

If they want to tear all of our history down, then they should just throw away all of our history books, and don't teach history in our schools.
