Join the Fight to End Sexual Assault
We ask you to sign this petition, as a form of acceptance. Accept that rape is a problem in this country, not simply an act to be brushed under the carpets by countless universities, countless bystanders, countless victims who feel too alone to say anything. Understand that the victim is never to blame; no length of a dress, no amount of cleavage, no sexual affiliation, and no preconceived judgements for either gender, give any form of consent to anyone, to take advantage of your body. This modern day era has tried so hard to bring rape to the limelight, and yet after few public speeches on the topic, nothing has changed. We must stop using meaningless words to suppress the reality of our communities flawed social conduct. Why would rape be seen as the inappropriate dinner conversation that it is, if everyone was so okay with speaking about it? We are here to help you break the silence. Stop pretending like rape will end on its own. Whomever you are, a boy, a girl, a friend, a family member, a student, a teacher, a stranger, you have the power to change someone’s life for the better. Console one another, stand up for one another, speak up for one another. Be the generation that breaks through the surface of the concealed reality of rape. Break the Silence.
Leading up to April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we are pushing for the community around us to become increasingly aware and involved.
Thank you,
Sofia Bruno, Kathleen Duke, and Caroline Kopsidas
