Public Vision for our Public Lands at the Celery Fields

Short-sightedness and greed dominate politics at every level. If our so-called public servants don't understand the intrinsic value of natural habitat, they should be made to understand that short-term profit is greatly outweighed by the tourism money the Celery Fields attracts. It will mean a steady source of income for decades to come as well as enhanced residential property values. In addition, open land and water in the Celery Fields serve as natural filtration of our potable water supplies. As we've discussed the last time Mr. Gabbert fought for approval of his polluting, unsightly recycling plant, whatever escapes the county's storm water retention system is headed for the bay. Whatever happened to our long range master plan for Sarasota County? Who benefits when our commissioners choose to disregard it?

Only political interests would lead a county official to use the Celery Fields for industrial use. Fresh Start has come up with several very community friendly and useful ideas. If county officials were truly interested in the county residents they would work with Fresh Start. I am completely against industrial use at the Celery Fields.

I am in favor of preserving public property for ecological reasons.

Keep the land and the celery fields pristine!!

There is no reason why anyone should disturb this lovely part of Sarasota. No private developer should take away a public treasure.

Mr. Gabbart is related to someone on the Zoning Board or one of the County Commissioners ???? Keep the Celery Fields ALIVE with WILDLIFE and for our community to enjoy it. No one needs the NOISE, dust or pollution from his business, he needs to go somewhere else!!!!

Please protect this beautiful area from industrial development

A coordinated development strategy is needed that includes nearby resident input and calls for ecologically responsible development that preserves existing wetlands, hammocks, ponds and canals.

This would be a travesty if it were to be built at this location!

Please do NOT sell our public land to private developers!

Previous county leaders invested in our Connty's future. Please do not let their efforts and vision be wasted.

This is a beautiful area enjoyed by many. Please protect this area from private developers.
